Contrary to most users experience, I actually love the 3DX/SOLIDWORKS fun. Every time I switch on my machine, I know I'm a valued customer because a window pops up and says "Hello Dweeb, you need to install a BS feature or it won't run". I love this, it makes me feel valued and special, I love the attention. And then, a modal form appears and I know that I AM SPECIAL, the ONE. It's just me and my BS DSS form, interacting exclusively, everything else just fades into the background, it's just me and thee, and I forget everything else I was doing. The way the form stays on top, I know I AM THE ONE! The one idiot that would put up with this!
The Worst Design Related Software on the Market
Over the last 25 years or so I have been using and setting up PDM/PLM systems for various companies in the Space, Oil/Gas, Process sectors.
i have used Windchill, TeamCenter, Onshape etc ...
3D Experience is by far and away THE worst design related software I have ever had the misfortune to (try to) use.
it isn't fit for purpose. it doesn't actually help you in your day to day work schedule, but creates work, holds you up, creates issues that arent fixable, over-writes files, copies files ..
And if by chance you have got it set up properly with all the various fixes and upgrades that constantly fail, its so difficult to operate efficiently.
i would love to meet the guy at Dassault who came up with this idea.
But, he's probably now owns a stall in some market somewhere. He still cant be working at Dassault ... surely??

A Curse Upon Their Houses
Have used SolidWorks for over a decade through work. Finally got a private 'Maker' license.
It is dreadful. The SolidWorks program itself is fantastic, but Dassault has thoroughly ruined the experience with anything and everything that surrounds the program.
The 'platform' is unfathomable, even something as basic as changing my credit card information took me 3 evenings to work out. Support is non-existent, updates fail regularly which renders the entire program unusable. It's impossible to work with reliably.
Currently I have cancelled my subscription because the software got so corrupted after a faulty update that SolidWorks will neither install, run, or uninstall.
Switched back to a premium version through my employer only to find out that every file I have created in the last 2/3 years can only be opened by a Maker version of SolidWorks. They stole my drawings, effectively.
I hope Dassault spontaneously combusts. A curse upon their houses.
BEWARE! Dreadful documentation and no way to cancel renewal!
I paid £48 for a subscription to the "maker" version of this, hoping to learn a standard 3D CAD package which some colleagues had previously used at work. The user interface is (to me) impenetrable, and the help/tutorials are hopeless - refers (for example) to "the user interface you're familiar with" -- which of course as a beginner you are not! Worst of all, perhaps, is that having decided not to renew, there is no way to cancel the subscription - the tab in the account management section is non-functional and there's no way to delete a payment card without adding another which has to first be validated. The credit card company can't stop individual payments as Dassault has got valid card information and they've no way to prevent the card being charged, The only way out would seem to be to have the card cancelled with all the nuisance that brings. This appears to have been a long standing issue (do a Google search for "Dassault subscription cancellation problems" to see what i mean). Avoid like the plague!
Too slow
I spend more time waiting on their updates than I use the software. Updates take 2 hours to download. I get a new update every week. This software sucks. To time consuming to run.

Uso DraftSight da almeno 3 anni, inizialmente era gratuito e poi ho acquistato la licenza annuale. Il primo rinnovo è stato piuttosto problematico ma poi è andato a buon fine, pochi giorni fa mi sono scomparse le barre dei menù e non posso più utilizzarlo. L'assistenza telefonica è prevista solo per le versioni più evolute e più costose, ci si deve affidare a una community e perdere giorni di tempo senza venire a capo di niente. Adesso lo cancello e sconsiglio a tutti di acquistarlo.

As per all the other reviews. The 3Dexperience platform is certainly 'an experience' but not a good one. It is flakey at best, if you can ever get it to load correctly. I am amazed that they are still going. I looked at this a few years ago and rejected. Just tried again and it has NOT changed. Look elsewhere. This is a poorly managed and thought-out platform.

Deceitful and possibly the worst response time, level of service, and most dismissive replies and I have ever received.
I had a license subscription for SolidWorks which for which I paid on a rolling monthly basis.
Firstly, Dassault covertly doubled it without any notification, it took me 6 months to notice on my bank account. They argued I had been notified yet, when asked to provide evidence that I had been notified, Dassault could not.
Secondly, it took 9 months (yes 9 MONTHS) to respond to the service request. As timescales go, do you think that is acceptable?
Thirdly, and the most important part, is the tone used in the responses. The response is blunt, rude, dismissive, and talking about me in the third person; your representative is corresponding directly to me, so please have the decency to write as if you're talking to me and not to your colleague with me sat in the corner.
Overall, I am appalled at the lack of communication and the awful service I received (when eventually finding the time to respond). If this is the service they provide to their domestic customers then I would go elsewhere.

If your life ambition is to create poor software, please join the team at Dassault Systems working on 3D Experience platform and Solid-[doesn't]-Works Maker; this team have successfully implemented possibly the single worst software package conceivable. If you looked up the definition of 'incompetent' in a dictionary, you'd more than likely find a picture of the DS logo.

Make sure you hire a good lawyer when entering into a contract with this company. Or even better, stay far away from it! Their business-model is to get you into a strangle contract while offering poor out of date software "for free".

Absolutely deplorable and disgraceful conduct has been covered by many others who have experienced these .... first hand.
I have used Solidworks for 22 years and can assure anybody who is interested, that since Dassault took over, the product has become absolute rubbish, with corrupted files, impossibly complex logins that choose when you will and when you won't get to use the program. The list goes on and on.
Use it for a week every day and it could go okay.
Don't use it for a second week and you will be put through the wringer before you can even get started.
I feel immense pity for the fools who work their butts off trying to write/improve a program while Dassault sees customers as nothing more than a convenience

Ich habe nun ein Jahr eine Maker Lizenz genutzt.
Zusammenfassend kann ich sagen:
- Bedingungsloser Online Zwang, selbst wenn das Internet kurz weg ist kann man das Arbeiten direkt einstellen
- Jeder Hotfix, jedes Update hat mir die Installation zerstört, ich kam nie um eine Neuinstallation herum und Hotfixes kommen gefühlt bis zu 2 mal im Monat
- Cloud Programm, keine normale Installation, alles läuft über die sehr umständlich zu bedienende 3D Experience Plattform
- Wenn man nicht aufpasst wird die Datei in der Cloud gespeichert und nicht mehr auf dem PC, habe keine Möglichkeit gefunden das rückgängig zu machen
- Kommentar Sektionen in der Cloud sind voll von genervten Nutzern, das scheint Dasstault Systems nicht zu interessieren
- Hilfe ist nicht hilfreich, ich habe dem Support sehr detailliert (genaue Fehlermeldungen etc.) meine Probleme zu der Installation geschildert, es kamen nur generische Rückmeldungen die kein Stück weiterhelfen
Tja, war eine kurze Zeit, ab zur Konkurrenz/Open Source Alternativen wie Autodesk oder FreeCAD :-)

Signed up with a discount for SOLIDWORKS , after the first month the forgot all about the discount and now have deleted my account so I'm being charged for nothing now.
Shame as I used the system all through school but buying it for myself has soured my experience. Better of using something 3lse
Absolutely terribly managed company
Absolutely terribly managed company. Their SolidWorks online software has been down for nearly a week. Hundreds of other customers affected along with me. Their developer working the issue clearly has no idea what they're doing. The developer keeps asking people in their forum for help! The company obviously has NO software management practices. I cannot trust a company that thinks it's ok to let customers be down for a week (or more!) at a time with nearly ZERO customer communication, zero software version and deployment management. on and on. Just a terrible experience all around. Oh and there's NO way to cancel my subscription (that doesn't even work!) Will have to do a chargeback with my cc company.. Such a waste of time, trying out this company's software.

I have ordered some 3D prints, and they came fast (in another color though, than ordered) and for customs the shipment had a Proforma Invoice from the supplier, that were not similar to the amount I paid through the web-site (3Dassault margin in diff.)
I contacted the Chat and asked how I could download the invoice, but they didn't know.. They said I had to write them an email.. I did - no answer... I wrote the Chat again, and forwards and backwards several times now, over 3 weeks I have tried to get an invoice.... Emails are not responded - not a single one so far, and chat always say they do not know... The only thing that happens is that they ask my name, company name etc., which is all stated on the order no. I already gave them.... Same story everytime I contact them, and still no email reply and no invoice... 3Dassoult has the worst customer service I have seen for a long time..
What a mess
After having issues with their online purchase process, and failing in my attempt to find support with a phone call to sales (no attempt to connect me to support, just arrogance), I finally managed to purchase a license online. It was NOT a straight forward process. I received an email with an order number, but no subsequent email with a link and serial number. Still can't find any support on their complicated and poorly designed webpage. Rather than spend additional time, I am writing them a letter demanding a refund. If this is how badly they support potential customers and purchasers, I hate to think what would have lain ahead had I persevered.
