The roller electric door was fitted in 2017. After 5 years, the open door started to drop down about 25 cm after opening. In 2025 , the motor brake failed completely with the door down. The manual override did not work against the locked brake and the motor burnt out. Total repair bill £1062.

Buyer Beware
We purchased a Secureroll garage door which was fitted on 10th Dec.2024. We were delighted with it as it made our lives much easier and more convenient. However on 9th Jan. 2025 the door opened as usual but when the down button was pressed, the door fell down inwardly. It landed on the back of our car and also the blue recycling bin. We contacted the installers who came out very quickly and restored the door to its correct position. Luckily there was no damage to our car but the door had a noticeable dent and some slight scuff marks.
According to the glossy brochure for Secureroll:
"Owners can enjoy years of problem-free use."
"A comprehensive 5 year product guarantee provides peace of mind that your door will stand the test of time."
As we had only had the door for 30 days, we assumed that the damage would be covered by this guarantee. Alas this "guarantee" does not cover damage to the laths or "labour costs and consequential damage".
The installer has offered to supply the laths free of charge on this occasion but we would have to pay £120 plus VAT for the installation.
In view of the fact that the damage to the laths was caused by a malfunction of the door after only 30 days, we feel that Aluroll should cover the complete cost of the repair.

The door was installed by newglaze about 3 years ago and the paint is now down to bare metal in a number of places. Newglaze say “ the issue you are describing is wear and tear due to where the straps are attached to the motor roll. We can reassure you that this is not a malfunction.” Well i am sorry but down to bare metal in less than 3 years is not a satisfactory performance! They have basically washed their hands of the problem.
The shutter also has a number of other vertical marks that have appeared making it a little unsightly.

My new Aluroll door looks great. The construction is solid and overall look is great just what I wanted, a great improvement to the look of our house. The staff at Aluroll were fabulous, best customer service I have received from any one since Covid. A big thanks to all

great doors except they don't tell you they're not covered by corrosion if you live less than 2 miles from the sea
