My renewal was due and had gone up by nearly 200 pound i was with yourselves autonet... so I done a compare site search again and got a really good price with yourselves autonet for less than I was paying last year which seemed very strange as was told that the 200 pound dearer one was the best yourselves said you could do. But happy that I was able to stay with autonet even though I think the price I paid this year should of automatically been offered as a renewal

Extortionate cancellation fees - NOW REFUNDED
Automated phone system is lengthy & not easy to navigate. Went on to cancel motor insurance policy with them - call was disconnected on the Friday- no call back or e mail. Rang again Monday to cancel- policy started in October - its £55 admin fee to cancel a policy.
Their quote for my new vehicle was £900 per year - comparison site had several others at £500 to £600.
UPDATE - Fair play to Autonet - their complaints department contacted me after my negative review. Listened to my complaint & the reasons for it & credited me back the cancellation fee together with a small amount as a goodwill gesture.
They still couldn't meet or beat my insurance quote but I would be more than happy now to return in the future if a quote was competitive. Excellent customer service & balanced approach even with a departing customer.

Competitive price
Got the same cover from the same insurer I was with last year but at £100 less than that company's renewal offer.
Shopping round for very renewal is a must.

I had a very poor experience with…
I had a very poor experience with Autonet Insurance. I was initially charged £394 online for a full year’s insurance, which I agreed to and paid. However, shortly after, they contacted me asking for an additional £286, which seemed very misleading and unfair.
This appeared to be a shady practice, as the price suddenly changed after I had already paid. Because of this, I decided I no longer wanted the policy and asked them to cancel it.
Although they did cancel the policy, they failed to provide a full refund, which was very disappointing. Overall, the lack of transparency and unexpected extra charges make it hard to trust this company. I would not recommend Autonet Insurance based on my experience.

I understand how frustrating and misleading this must have felt, especially after you had already paid the initial amount in full.
I wanted to clarify that when applying for an insurance policy, it is standard practice for insurance companies to check the CUE database to access any claims history. CUE is a central database that holds information on all insurance claims and incident reports made by policyholders. If the information disclosed does not match what the database confirms, we ask for you to contact us to discuss this in more detail. When updating the information to match the CUE database, this can affect the premium you were originally quoted. We apologise if this was not made clear to you during the conversation you had with us.
I’m sorry you weren’t aware the administration fee would be retained if you cancelled within the cooling off period and understand how frustrating it must have been. The £40 administration fee is outlined in our terms of business which is available to view prior to the policy being accepted, but I realise this doesn't make the situation any less frustrating for you.

Painful company to do business with
They auto renew without your consent and put their sticky fingers into your bank account to take out the renewal premium you never wanted.
Stay clear of these scammers they are on comparison websites usually the cheapest but they try and get money in other ways but not everybody bows down to you Autonet
You stuck you’re fingers twice in my bank account Without my consent
Nobody auto renews now days because we search around for better deals now you want a £70 cancellation fee for a policy I did not take out!
Take me to court you’re not getting any money out of me

Just to clarify we send renewal invitations 21 days prior to your renewal date and it confirms whether your policy is due to auto renew. This allows customers who do not wish to renew time to contact us. Customers are also able to turn off the auto renewal in the customer portal.
