I haven't found an honest technician until now, someone like Tony. He recommended what my Honda needs at the time, without charging me for services that aren't needed. I trust him and his staff. Thank you so much Liz and Tony for caring for your customers.

A dealership wanted to replace my transmission for $9000 I went to Cottman and they fixed it for $95.

The transmission on my 2004 Buick Regal was shifting hard and hesitating. Tony looked it over carefully and talked with me about what the problems could be. He was very knowledgeable but didn't talk over my head. I took my car in a couple of weeks later and had Cottman rebuild the transmission. I am extremely happy with the work done. The car drives great now, the price was fair, and I got a two-year warranty. It is no longer nerve-wracking to drive my car!

We had trouble with a Subaru dealership claiming we needed a new transmission in excess of $9000. We came to Cottman, which is way out of our neighborhood. I highly recommend Cottman of Columbia for any car repair or maintenance. They rebuilt the transmission in my 2001 Hyundai and it runs great now. The owners Liz and Tony, went above and beyond what I expected to make sure my car runs well.

Great service very honest.

I'm pretty particular with my vehicles and do most of my own maintenance, but I had a weird groan coming from the transmission in my truck. Without the tools and expertise tackle a transmission job, I called several shops and read their reviews. Cottman had the best rate for a fluid service, which was overdue anyway . They tried to diagnose the groan but couldn't really determine what the problem was without tearing it down. After discussing my options between tearing it down too early or letting it ride too long and risking catastrophic failure, we decided to service it and run it to see what happened. They did a great job on the fluid service, and did it quick. The noise got better and I'm not worried about it any longer, but if it does give out I will take it straight to Cottman in Columbia SC.

They could have easily talked me into an expensive rebuild that may or may not have been needed, but they treated me fairly and gave me good advice and used professional experience to help me decide what to do.

I repeat, when/if my transmission goes out tomorrow or years down the road, I'm going to Cottman in Columbia SC without hesitation!

I have been using Cottmans for years now and have always been satisfied. They now have a customer for life after an experience I had with my 2005 Honda Civic. I was having some issues with over heating, so I took my car into the Honda dealership to have it checked out. They told me that the engine was blown and I would need a complete rebuild (around $2000)! I took the car to Cottmans to get their estimate and they found that the engine was NOT blown. They had to fix the thermostat and a few other things. The total cost was around $200. I have been driving the same car for 2 years now with no issues! The Honda place was going to charge me for something I did not need. I told Cottmans about what the Honda place said BEFORE they looked at the car, so they could have easily told me that it was a blown engine and charge me $1500 to fix it, but they did NOT. That honesty is almost impossible to find anymore. After that anytime I have any car trouble, I ALWAYS go to Cottmans.

We went in for a tranmisson repair all work was good and they made sure we were aware of other minor problems with the car and prices we are going back to get more work done

Cottman is the best place to take your car to have work done on it they really work with u when it come to working on your car if they find something else wrong they will give u a call.

I went there to get a check engine light they explained to me what was going on with how long it would take and the cost. What he did to it saved me a lot of money and it also fixed the problem. And they were very nice people to talk to and friendly.

Cottman employees offer quality services and are always professional. They take the time needed to make an accurate diagnosis of your vehicle and correct the problem immediately. I am so grateful I was referred to them and will continue referring others.

I purchased a groupon for a transmission flush. When I arrived for my 10a appointment, I was informed that they were running behind. Luckily, I scheduled the service right before a trip out of town so we had a rental to ride around and pass the time. By 3p, I still hadn't heard anything so we headed back to the shop and were told that the service was not done because of a bigger transmission issue. I appreciated their honesty. The service was already paid for so they very well could've gone ahead without regard but they didn't. The wait time was ridiculous but I'd wait again for honest service!

Depending on your repair need, Cottman of Columbia is a better choice than just going to the dealership. Cottman of Columbia can service your current vehicle, with honest & fair pricing with comparable service companies, and much less than what you'll pay at the dealership.

My 16 yo truck has all of it's service work performed at Cottman of Columbia.

From the efficient service, to the low prices, and especially the military discount; I'm coming here for anything I need with my F150. Toni was awesome, knowledgeable, and runs a shop that prides itself on not running up bills with unnecessary procedures. I'll be back in 3,000 miles for my next oil change!
