Adam at the Halfords store sorted me out on my mercedes benz a250 4 matic engineered by AMG brillent guy had a right laugh fixed the issues with my car great service and mot as i know he grew up around mercedes cars how did i know that “I ONLY FOLLOW THE “BEST” FACT! Work done poorly if at all
Booked in for a tyres and a brake fluid change, could have done the fluid change myself but one of those jobs that is much easier with the car on a ramp and the price was reasonable. When got the car back they had not reset the service indicator and it was obvious that none of the caliper bleed valves had been touched. When I questioned reception about if they had really changed the fluid and could they check with the technician that had done the work they came back after a while to say the technician was concerned about breaking off the bleed valves so just sucked out the fluid from the top. I said what about the fluid in the lines and he admitted that would be old. Halfords this is not a fluid change and what sort of mechanic would consider this ok. I am even concerned that they really did as much as change the reservoir fluid. Will test and verify but will be seeking a refund either way as they have not done what they were paid to do.

Got a free mot with the motoring club…
Got a free mot with the motoring club which I got when buying a battery as it saved money. Had it done and failed even though there was no mention of the ‘problems’ when I had a service the previous day at a different garage. Got a quote of over £700. Obviously I declined the work. Had a quote of less than a quarter of the price to do the work. Will not be going back to Halfords for any work on my car

Excellent and helpful staff
Excellent and helpful staff. They were hard working, knowledgeable and helpful.
Halfords Finchley however was let down by it's very cramped premises - so that parking was difficult. Parking was also hazardous given the need potentially to reverse onto the busy road that runs past the premises. Halfords senior management need to urgently review the location of this facility and provide premises that match the excellence of its staff.

Friendly and professional service
I used Southampton Millbrook Autocentre for an MoT test.
The staff were ready for my car at the time booked and took it straight to a bay. They told me how long it was likely to take and I received a phone call to tell me when my car was ready to collect.
On collection, there was no pressure to upsell or talk me into booking any 'advisories' work, which was refreshing as many garages will try this.
A friendly professional and stress free experience.

Paid extra for "premium" slot for tyres…
Paid extra for "premium" slot for tyres to be changed. Turned up a few minutes early. No one around, waited over 10 minutes, eventually someone came in the office, then I got told they will call me in a few hours. I said a few hours to change a couple of tyres? I then got told it's just a drop off slot not an appointment to get tyres changed. Never using Halfords again as why pay for a slot when it's a drop off. Not waiting hours for tyres.

Sometimes good, mostly NOT!
Sometimes good, mostly bad. Four times I have taken my car there over the last few years and on only one occasion I have been satisfied with the standard of work. First time they stripped the sump plug off my car, then tried to blame me (nonsense, I serviced the vehicle previously and most certainly did not over tighten the sump plug), then caved in and repaired it themselves. Second time they replaced two rear tyres reasonably successfully, third time they did tracking that was still miles out when I got the car back, necessitating me having to book it back in and get it looked at again. Fourth and FINAL time I took my wife's car in for two new tyres and tracking and they over torqued the wheel nuts, threading the hub, then spouting a load of nonsense about that car being on a special "blacklist" or "watchlist" for wheels coming off etc (total fabrication as I later found out). THey then tried to get me booked in to get a whole new hub fitted at my expense which I sharply rejected. This is the last time I will use these cowboys as I know of a few other people that have had bad experiences with the half-trained oafs that work in there... Update: Just looked and found that my dashcam has been unplugged and the footage wiped completely!!

What a dreadful service
What a dreadful service. For the second time in 3 years Halfords cancelled my MOT on the same day leaving me without a vehicle. I care for a cancer patient and I’m reliant on having my car so I can get shopping etc for the patient. They offered me no alternative appointments and just said if we don’t have room anywhere we can’t do it. A very bad service and a poor way to treat customers.
