Don’t try to change appointment as they will mess you around
Ordered replacement tyre on Thursday booked for 1600 to 1800 on the Monday
Friday morning got a phone call saying the tyre I had ordered wouldn’t be available till Tuesday so upgraded tyre as it could be done sooner was told it could be done the next day ( Saturday) so booked for 1400 to 1600 on the Saturday.
Saturday arrived with email saying it’s the day it’s going to happen but the time on the email was incorrect rang to see what was going on to be told it was still booked for Monday complaint was escalated. Monday arrived no text or email so rang to confirm yes someone would be there at 1626. At 15:30 I had a call from Martin saying he had finished his work prior to me could he come now which to me was good news he arrived and was very professional in his attitude however he did not have my tyre but he was straight on the phone organising a tyre went and fetched it then fitted it the only good part of this sorry tale.
Today I received an email about my complaint and as I had the tyre fitted on the Monday they were going to do diddly squat about it

What a joke !! . Had to get a fitting check to see if it could be fitted to my caddy maxi campervan . Well the guy that came out well to say he didn't know his ass from his elbow would be an understatement. I had had a camera before but had failed . A friend of mine had wired it up but I had run the cable from front to the back he just connected it up he is very busy at the moment so got halfords involved WHAT A MISSTAKE . So I removed the cable and rolled it up and left it in the back of the van but didn't remove it from the rear light . Then this joker said Its a no I'm afraid as it's a camper van and as a company I have to hide the cable and as it's a camper I can't do it and this was after I had just told him . I a carpenter by trade ran the cable to the back myself then it was not at all a difficult job at all . But then he said yet again as a company I have to hide the cable . I don't know if this guy has always been thick or just practiced really really hard . Would have given no star if I had the option !!!!!!!!
Service? That's the way to do it!
Two days ago I had to return my vehicle to a well-known main dealership for warranty work on a Lane Assist feature. In the process they felt obliged to disconnect the Nextbase GW322 dashcam (dc) previously purchased from and installed by Halfords in Friern Barnet. It was only the following morning after the warranty work that I became aware of loose wires hanging next to the now non-working dc.
In two return visits on the same day, the dealership technicians couldn't restore normal service. [I was also informed - upon enquiry about their need - that while in their workshop it was necessary to disconnect the device for compliance under GDPR regulations.] Their staff advised me to return to the original installer (Halfords) to resolve the problem. They did at least volunteer to fund any costs incurred.
Happily for me - and without prior booking - a Halfords technician was available within half an hour of my arrival. In probably less than 10 seconds he identified the fault: the dealership technicians had simply failed to reconnect the dc to the OBD located under the dashboard.
In addition to the restoration of the dc - all gratis - I was happily given a masterclass update in the dc's various functions by Kish, my dc expert. Full marks to all the Friern Barnet team. That's customer service.
Mobile fitting, massive let down twice
I'd first like to say that Halfords the store, it's products, staff and it's in-store fitting is first class. However they have let me down badly with their mobile fitting service.
I booked in a dash cam fitting at my home for front and rear cameras. I was going to upgrade from what Halfords fitted in-store a few years ago.
The fitting price has doubled since the last time but the service has drastically gone downhill.
The technician took one look at my vehicle from the outside and sucked his breath in and said ooooh before even looking inside.
Then the excuses started why he couldn't do the job, not enough time, old cable won't come out easily, the cable isn't long enough. Every solution I presented was shut down.
So I phoned up and got the fitting rescheduled for 4 days later as that was the quickest they could fit me in. Come the morning of my fitting I got a call saying the technician had phoned in sick and when I phoned later was told he had quit the job that morning.
I've had to postpone my van being converted to a camper twice now, they were expecting to start it three days ago.
Halfords asked me if I would like to book a third time and I declined because I can't keep putting off the camper firm who are waiting for my van.
Also I have lost my £10 voucher I used to buy the dash cam and fitting. They have processed a refund minus my Motoring Club voucher.
Very unhappy and won't be using the mobile service again. I will stick to in-store, much better service.

AVOID AVOID AVOID - I wouldn't even be giving 1 star. Took my car in for a deep DPF clean, the car has come out worse than it went in! They have also put my milage as 67000 when my milage is 90,020 and it just so happens to not be covered under warranty once it's done 24,000 miles since the DPF Clean. I was also not given the diagnostics included in the clean so they didn't make note of the soot levels before or after the clean and it was stated that I would get this information. I had the soot levels read before I handed it to them for the clean and funny enough when it had come back they were the same..... plus they promise they drove it for 20 minutes but they must have been going 2mph as they only covered 0.5 of a mile..... They have now locked out the Regen function on my car so now I have to pay £499 for a specialist company, who have informed me not to drive the vehicle as it will cause engine damage. I gave the garage the benefit of the doubt and contact them to ask them to change the mileage to the true amount. When asking them about the diagnostics they said that the DPF was fine and clear - not realising I got this checked on my way home. I proceeded to ask them for the diagnostics that were promised and the change of mileage on my invoice..... yet to receive the email from them. They also said they didn't take diagnostics and they aren't sure what they were or are. They just stated it's fine and clear.
So, I call Halfords to discuss, having confidence that they would resolve this ASAP due to the fact that I cannot drive my car. But this was not the case they told me to wait 7 days (would not even refund me straight away!). After spending 2 hours on the phone they agreed they would call me back tomorrow. So currently awaiting a call back and money back.
They have been awful, I have never known such bad customer service in my life. I also mentioned that I have a 3hr commute to and from work everyday and that my father in law is severely ill in hospital (who I now cannot visit, due to the fact if I move my car it will damage my engine). Halfords you are a disgrace and so is your garage (National Tyres and Autocare, Telford, TF1 5AQ)
Don't do it
Booked an appointment for between 8 and 12. No one turned up. Called customer service and was told the person was running late. Still no one turned up. Called again and was told the technician had turned up but no one was in. Ring door bell says otherwise and he had apparently turned up before we had called asking where he was the first time.Tracking shows nothing has happened all day. Asked to speak to a manager but was told there is only one manager and he had just gone for his 1 hour break. Laughable at best. While holding on the phone then get a text and email saying we couldn't reach you. What a joke. So for all Halfords mess they want to charge a £40 cancellation fee. No call back from the manager and have tried ringing back but no answer. My advice is to not use their mobile fitting service. You will regret it. Customer service is non existent and they can't get their stories straight.

The escalation are just ignoring emails now and not helpful. The £150 isn’t going to take me down but the service was awful. Will be reporting them to motoring ombudsman and taking them to small claims court.

Another mechanic from Halfords came out and criticised what the other one had done however car was locked in eco due to fuses . His manager was meant to call me back never has . Just avoid Halfords mobile, unfortunately managers do not care either
Congratulations Halfords
Danny came out to put a new tyre on my car on 14th May. He showed me where the alloy had buckled and provided me with the information so that I could purchase a new one. I let him know when it had been delivered and learnt that he was having a few days off over at bank holiday weekend. He arranged with his boss that somebody would come out at the weekend to fit the new alloy. While he was away, he contacted me to ask if this happened. It hadn’t and he followed this up by arranging for Darren to come next day and fit the new alloy. Darren came at the end of a very long working day and completed the job so I was no longer housebound. I have mobility difficulties and it is impossible for me to leave the house except in my car.
I was so very very impressed by the attention and help Danny and Darren showed me. The fact that Danny should take time during his days off to follow up speaks volumes for the customer care Halfords provides.They were very sensitive to my needs and such lovely men. A real credit to Halfords. Thank you, Halfords.
Very poor service
Had to cancel the original appointment and new one booked. Mechanic still turned up . No one turned up for the rebooked appointment or had the courtesy to let me know they would not be turning g up. Rebooked again and told on the morning that they did not have my tyres. Now trying to cancel and get a refund. Not recommended.
Replacement Tyres
I ordered two tyres for my vehicle to be fitted at my home address. I had previously ordered through Halfords before with no issue.
This time, the technician advised me after several minutes that he was unable to get the wheels off the car because some of the wheel nuts were swollen and he didn't have the right size tool to get them off (apparently common on Ford vehicles). Gave me an option to proceed with the tyre change with a risk of damaging the vehicle, leaving me the tyres and getting them fitted elsewhere at extra cost, or cancelling the order and receiving a full refund. I chose the last option.
A little while later I received an email advising of a £40 callout fee as I had 'declined' their service. This was clearly not the case. After several back and forths over phone and email, Halfords still declined to refund the callout fee. Contacted CAB who advised me to write them advising of a breach of contract and to refund the callout fee. Still declined, citing their terms and conditions. When questioned where in the terms and conditions, it mentions the callout fee, the advisor could only signpost me to the FAQs.
Also made reference to the lack of correct tools the technician carried with him, stating that this wasn't the case. Complete nonsense.
Wouldn't recommend getting tyres booked through this company.
Wish I had looked at trust pilot…
Wish I had looked at trust pilot earlier. I had a mobile appointment to change my tyres between 4-8pm. and he couldn't be bothered to turn up. I called the helpline and I was informed he should've arrived at 4pm and they now can't track him even though he should have still been working.

No Show for tyre replacement
I booked a tyre replacement for today earlier in the week. I paid extra for a 8am to 10am appointment .
No one called, no one turned up. I called 4 times and was told someone would call and I was the 2nd on the list for the day. The same line at 9.30 am , 10.30am, 11.45am and 1.30pm.
At 3 pm no progress. No reply from their hub so the phone operators were in the dark aswell. So I had to cancel and look elsewhere. A whole day wasted waiting for my tyre replacement and serious inconvenience.

I ordered 4 tyres for my car which were fitted the next day. We were about to set off on a 7 week tour of Scotland towing a caravan. 3 hours later whilst driving through road works on the M6, my rear offside tyre failed. I contact Halfords who arranged the tyre to be replaced the following day as the Auto centre In Carlise was not open on a Sunday. We were staying in carlise for two days. I was kept fully informed and the staff at the auto centre we great. Things happen, but how the company deal with it matters and halfords customer service was second to none. Getting things sorted to allow me to continue our road trip. Thank you halfords.
Absolutely piss poor customer service…
Absolutely piss poor customer service and complaints procedure. After being blocked in by their tyre fitting service and complaining, despite repeated calls to escalate, no response. 4 calls, repeated online chats, nothing. Any thought I had of using this company for anything is long gone, judging my this experience.
You have been warned. Avoid.

Convenient service and professional fitter
I booked to have 2 tyres fitted at my home address. I opted for the 8am - 8pm slot and was really pleased to see that just after 9am the Tracking system had updated to show I was the 4th fit of the day so I could calculate roughly what time I could expect them. When my fitter arrived he was friendly, courteous and respectful of my property. He fitted both tyres in around half an hour. I would recommend the service and will use again in the future.

Had 4 quality new tyres fitted 1 day…
Had 4 quality new tyres fitted 1 day before MOT. On MOT it was discovered one tyre is delaminating and needs replacing ASAP. Halfords been a nightmare to deal with. My daughter is disabled has 3 children under 12 so has to use car. Instead fitting a new tyre straight away, Halfords want to make appointment to send someone to inspect, then if faulty make another appointment to replace, all the time my daughter has to drive with a faulty tyre. Despite me paying and ordering they won't let me deal with it as it's my daughter's car. Been a nightmare to deal with, won't bring a replacement tyre to 1st appointment, insist will have to make a further appointment, despite clearly being a safety issue as the 'new' tyre is delaminating
