Recently moved my 91 year old Nan to…
Recently moved my 91 year old Nan to Orchid Place, Exeter. From start to finish and every aspect of the journey Kelly, Chas and Jane have made the transition easy. They could not of been more helpful. A special thank you to Aleks at Head Office also helping with forms to ensure she gets all the help she needs. So pleased that she now lives down the road and can still be independent but also knowing she is in a safe environment with people around her. Would highly recommend McCarthy and Stone for retirement living.

Stayed in the Guest suite at Conachar…
Stayed in the Guest suite at Conachar Court for 5 nights,welcoming, warm, clean and very peaceful. The House Manager went above and beyond to make us feel very welcome and explained everything in a very empathetic way. Would definitely recommend Mccarthy and Stone as an independent living venue. If there is an area from improvement it would be guest parking which was not very desirable in wet , muddy weather.

Good place to live mostly!
Most of the time we enjoy life at the Rugby development. It’s good for the friendships and companionships fostered through the variety of social events.
We have an on site Bistro but the quality is variable and often they run out of items on the menu. A daily crumble is advertised but has been unavailable on a number of occasions. We don’t often use it because we prefer to eat in the evening but it is annoying to go in for Sunday lunch to find out they have run out by 12.30!
The development is well managed by our new manager, Tracy. She has worked here since it was built and knows the residents and the McS ethos inside out. When we arrived, other residents told us that if we wanted something doing then speak to Tracy! She is largely responsible for recruiting the other staff here who are superb.
Tracy runs Homeowners Meetings with professionalism and efficiency so that matters are discussed and every home owner feels they can have their say.
Tracy plans a range of social events which are popular and works with the Social Committee to arrange new activities as diverse as live music concerts, cheese and wine evenings, film nights and quiz nights. Bingo nights, craft afternoons, carpet bowls and even indoor golf appear on the programme which Tracy publishes weekly.
We do appreciate though that it can’t be easy to keep 70 old people happy all the time but she succeeds most of the time.
She is also tenacious and determined and managed to get the EV Chargers working. No mean feat as they hadn’t worked since the development was opened over 3 years ago!
Tracy (Mrs Foster) is approachable and the central force behind this mostly vibrant community.
Our issues with McS are really around their definition of “independent living”. It is clear that McS are prepared to sell apartments to some who are unable to operate independently to the extent that they don’t even know where they live. The communal lounge resembles a Care Home for much of the day so we rarely sit there. It’s not what we signed up for.
The staff are excellent but McS must decide whether this is a Care Home or a residence for independent adults.

McCarthy Stone, Jacob Place
My husband and I have lived in Jacob Place, a McCarthy Stone development, for nearly five months and have settled in very well. The move from our previous home went very smoothly due to the sales rep, Deborah Boorman, holding our hands during the process and always being available for advice when we needed it. The estate manager at this development, Alexa Coyle, is efficient, helpful and friendly, as are all the staff who carry out their various duties with vigilance and cheerfulness. The bistro serves delicious food and the chef is always ready to cater to different needs. The communal areas are very pleasant and clean and there are a variety of social events and activities which are well attended. Since we have been here we have made friends with many of the other residents and the atmosphere is always welcoming

We recently moved into Humphrey Court, Stafford and were made most welcome by Jessica White, Manager who took time to explain everything in detail was most helpful, friendly, supportive and obliging.
The community have all made us most welcome, the standards, environment, facilities and gardens are to a high standard and maintained extremely well.
We could not be happier.

Lovely environment
I visit Milward place daily as a private carer and out of all the places I visit this is my favourite. Jane the house manager is always so welcoming and friendly and there is always such a nice atmosphere. I look forward to visiting and often speak to the other tenants. They always have activities and events on the board and there is a massive sense of inclusion. All in all just this a lovely, clean, safe environment for everyone and a place I highly recommend 😊

I've stayed in the guest suite at Whitelock Grange quite a few times visiting my parents. Communication is great and the house manager has always been really helpful. The suite is always clean and tidy with comfy beds and and clean towels.

Impossible to sell.
Ok until the owner of an apartment passes away or moves to a permanent care setting. Resales team are pathetic and not in touch with the current housing market
On going service charges cause a financial burden to owners in care homes or to people who have inherited the property.
McCarthy and Stone are unwilling to buy the properties back, even at less than the original selling price.
My parents bought an apartment £345.000 and we can't sell it for £200.000 two years on. Therefore for this I rate McCarthy and Sone star. If there was a 0 star option I would have chosen that.

Perfect home found!
We were looking for a home for my mother and had spotted Flora Place in Liphook ..so booked a visit online..easy..visited a couple of days later. Well from the minute we walked in the door it was like a warm hug..Toni Russ gave us the warmest of welcomes..we were given lots of information and saw the beautiful show apartments ..as well as available ones.. and now we are planning the move as my mum loved it too! Nothing is too much trouble for Toni and she is as professional as she is friendly..what an asset to MacCarthy Stone ..she’s a gem! I am so looking forward to being a frequent visitor!

My father lives at Benedict court Newbury.
The building and gardens are both very well looked after.
The house manager, Denise is very welcoming, friendly and helpful, in fact I never get past her office without having a friendly chat.
Denise always makes sure that my dad is well and has everything that he needs.
I feel that my dad is very happy and feels safe at Benedict court.

Karen, the problem solver …
Both with the purchase of the flat and with ongoing problems Karen Flanagan has been unfailingly responsive and helpful and goes out of her way to find solutions for me. We moved here mainly be because of how we were (and are) dealt with by Karen. Only today she solved a problem we were having with our frig/freezer. Horton Mill Court Droitwich the best!
My mom moved into Horton Mill Court, Droitwich just over a year ago. We had looked at loads of similar places but Droitwich stood out and it was the best decision to go there! Not only is the location perfect, the gardens are wonderful and the shared spaces such as the restaurant and sitting room were recently refurbished and are lovely spaces to spend time in.
The home owners are great at organising events and activities, showing amazing creativity and energy. Mom found them very welcoming from the start and has made some very good friends.
Above all it is thanks to Emma and all the staff that my mom has settled into her lovely apartment and it has become her home. They are so caring and friendly, professional and confidence-inspiring. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They create the best atmosphere and are always available, though at the same time discrete. I don’t live in the UK so it is especially reassuring to know that mom is being looked after so well but at the same time maintaining her independence. I couldn’t have hoped for better. Thank you to my extended Horton Mill Court family!

We moved our mum from Cornwall to Glebe…
We moved our mum from Cornwall to Glebe Court in Romsey following the passing of her husband. It was a stressful and emotional time, but Caroline was amazing from day one, guiding us through every step and helping us overcome the various obstacles along the way.
From arranging visits with a house manager in Cornwall to sourcing a removal company for moving day, Caroline did so much to help everything come together. She even arranged a welcome party at Glebe Court, which happened to fall on Mum’s birthday. Everyone was so welcoming, and there was even a birthday cake waiting for her—a lovely touch that meant so much to us.
It understandably took Mum a little while to settle into a different way of life while still grieving, but several months on, she absolutely loves it. She has made lots of new friends and enjoys joining in with the various classes held in the lounge.
I’m so pleased we found the right place for Mum, and incredibly grateful to Caroline for helping us make it happen. Thank you to everyone at Glebe Court for making her feel so welcome.
