We were so happy to move into our apartment at Orchid Place Exeter five weeks ago.
We would like to thank the Sales Team Kelly and Chas, especially Kelly who has been helping us from when we reserved from plan. She has been absolutely amazing throughout the long process, with her professional and caring approach.
Jane the House Manager has made us feel very welcome and helped us settle in. All the residents here have been so friendly and welcoming.
The development is in the perfect location with buses outside to Exeter and other parts of Devon. Walks to the river and Quay are only a short distance away.

Guest Suite experience
I have recently stayed in the Guest Suite at a McArthy & Stone property in Macclesfield and the experience was excellent. Having travelled to visit my Mum, a resident in John Percyvale Court only since August, it was so convenient, exceptionally clean and very comfortable to be able to stay on site for a few days. The nightly rate is very affordable too. Mum is settling in brilliantly and the staff and the residents are very welcoming. I highly recommend these properties for parents who are looking for a more safe and secure, yet independent, environment where families can also visit in comfort.

The care is exceptional
My Mother in Law has been at Norton Place in Baldock for 3 years and the care she has received has been exceptional. The staff are all wonderful with her but the Care Manager Sharon and her assistant Jeanette go above and beyond and their care gives us the peace of mind to be able to go away on holiday. We could not ask for more!

Thatcham - Turner Place Jade House Manager

Great Staff
Just wanted to drop a note to say we have been staying at Dove Tree Court in Shirley and it has been great. It has been comfortable and quiet and the residents have been very welcoming. Jane the house manager is super and has been of enormous help. Nothing is too much trouble and you can see she is passionate about Dove Tree Court and making sure the residents are safe, secure and happy.

The estate Manager at Saxon Gardens…
The estate Manager at Saxon Gardens Oakham ( Melanie ) , Rutland , manages the independent living and is amazing. She cares for all the residents and staff alike and often in under resourced setting especially given many residents have been there for many years now. All her staff continue to do their utmost to look after our ageing father in his twilight years. it is a happy place.

very caring staff and trouble free living
My parents haves lived in Wayfarer Place, Alresford Hampshire for a couple of years and as their care needs have increased the staff have provided what is needed to keep them living independently. The site has a bistro, where the food is generally okay and there are regular activities and events but with no pressure to attend. The staff are very caring and warm and the place well maintained and of good quality there is a vibrant community and a very homely and safe.

Hampson Court delightful guest room
We stayed at Hampson Court in the guest room and it was delightful. Everything that we could possibly need was in the room, and it was very comfortable. The bed was great and the shower and bathroom generally was wonderful. We look forward very much to visiting again. Many thanks to Vanessa for all her hard work in making it such a memorable visit.

A new home for my mum
Mum moved into Orchid Place earlier this year, after health problems meant she couldn't live in her house any more. Kelly and Chas made the application and move in very simple, and Jane takes wonderful care of all the residents. Mum has settled well as is happier than I’ve seen her in years, she’s made friends and joins in the social activities but still maintains her independence. Her flat is well designed and finished to an excellent standard.

Serious Management Shortfalls Away From Complex
Although I would unhesitatingly give 5* rating to the house manager and other staff at our complex (I have done elsewhere today) I feel that in other aspects (beyond the control of our staff) McCarthy and Stone Management Services are not, in my opinion, fit for purpose.
Personally, however, I find financial management including estimating and billing in general not up to standard.
Yesterday they improperly took £537 from my account (and others) as a result of a billing team monumental mess up and in spite of the fact that they had been warned of pending organisational malfunction.
Pre- financial year Service Charge estimates lack accuracy and reason. Year-end accounts lack explanation of obvious issues. Questionable past management of communal energy left us with a catch-up bill for £16K and a significant annual service charge deficit.
On a personal basis I received what I regard as a defamatory email from a staff member (not directly linked to us) without them producing evidence. Two months after submitting a formal complaint the process is incomplete.
The same person, when questioned over a £50K+ deferred debit account query stated “We incorrectly received an invoice for £41k from them (Ecotricity), which we paid (as this is the responsible thing to do), but then contested” What happened to due diligence?
Customer Relations and others at Bournemouth are already aware of these issues.
Whether such management shortcomings are down to incompetence or lack of resources I am not sure, but whatever it is, they pose value for money questions.
In case you wonder. Do I like my apartment and life here? Yes.

Super helpful House Manager, Roslin Place, Hook
Phil, House Manager at Roslin Place, Hook has made Mum's arrival a dream, he can't help enough & respond to even the smallest thing with proactive and helpful assistance. I have lived at Lowestone Court Kinver for 5 years and I would like to say how wonderful Tracey Parkes the Manager is, nothing is too much trouble, she is so caring and thoughtful to all the residents , she manages to keep everyone happy!
I don't know what we would do without her , she thinks of everything.

Excellent staff in Alsager but Bournemouth are poor
Some time ago I wrote in praise of our House Manager support here atThe Oaks, Alsager in general.
Michelle and the other staff here continue to give 5* service going a mile further when needed in spite of inadequate support from other parts of the organisation. You will find good apartments in a pleasant location and a friendly community who enjoy regular and occasional events.
At the same time I cast doubt on the quality of much of Bournemouth based parts of McCarthy and Stone Management Services (as opposed To McCarthy and Stone in general) and to whom I am inclined to give a generous 1* (equivalent to not ft for purpose) Billing team may know what I have in mind but they are not the only culprits.
