I contacted this place about a bookcase. My initial conversation with Craig Mendel was excellent and made me feel like I'd made the right choice of place of purchase.
The agreement we made was that I would pay a deposit, a sketch would be sent to me for approval and then after that approval had been given work on my bookcase would begin and I would pay the balance 2 weeks later.
2 weeks passed and I had heard nothing from the shop/Craig. When it came time to pay the balance I sent an email asking how things were progressing and how to pay the balance (the deposit of 50% was paid over the phone using a debit card).
I got no response from the email so I called - voicemail. I left a message and sent a text - it remains unread to this day. All of this seemed really strange - who doesn't want the balance of the purchase - so I looked online at the reviews and, well, we've all read what's been written. The negative reviews accurately reflected my current experience.
I called and left a voicemail asking for a refund of my deposit and giving the reason that I wasn't prepared to go through what other people had gone through trying to get their furniture completed and delivered. I eventually got a response from Craig apologising for my experience with his staff and asking if I would feel better if he took over the sale. Given that he was the only person I had dealt with and that he was the problem there was no assurance to be found in that offer.
I pointed out that he was the problem as he was the only person I had dealt with and asked again for my refund. He stated they don't refund for a change of mind but could offer a store credit. I said that was of no use (if they're not going to supply my bookcase for cash it's unlikely they would supply anything else for store credit), it wasn't a change of mind it was not wanting to deal with someone who had no intention of supplying the furniture I had put a deposit on. I also said that I knew that they hadn't started work on my bookcase as I had not received the sketch of it and therefore no approval had been given and asked again for a refund with no harm done and to just refund my deposit and call it a day.
30 mins later I got a sketch texted to me from someone called Jed asking for my approval so work could start on the bookcase. Needless to say I didn't approve it.
I asked again for a refund, Craig said that he couldn't give one as they don't refund for a belief or change of mind but was happy to take over the sale and could have the bookcase to the factory in 7 days or so. As the factory is not my house and he was still the only person I had dealt with (with the exception of Jed if that was a real person) I declined. I also asked him to stop gaslighting me at which point the tone of his emails changed, and became a lot more brisk and businesslike and again denied giving a refund.
I ended up taking legal advice and sent a letter of demand through my lawyer. At that point Craig made up some terms and conditions that had never been stated anywhere previously - either in writing or verbally and I got 25% of my deposit back.
I've reported him to the ACCC and I recommend anyone here that has had issues to do the same. They may ignore one complaint but if everyone who has had issues does it there will hopefully be an investigation.
If it was possible to leave less than one star I would, but as it isn't I'll be satisfied with the details in this review which will hopefully make people aware that this is a less than 1 star place to go for any kind of furniture.
Dishonesty
I ordered a single trundle bed and one mattress. When I got my order I was being given a double mattress and the wrong colour bed. When I complain the company was only prepared to give me the correct mattress but was not willing to take back the bed. Said it was final sale when this was not discuss that with me. No one needs the stress of arguing with anyone.
Very happy with purchase
I ordered a narrow boy back in November 2023 and even though I thought the delivery price to Brisbane was a bit steep the price I paid for the narrow boy made it well worth it. From ordering item, to approving sketch and delivery I had a very good experience and am very happy with my purchase.
Be very careful
Do not use this company, purchased furniture they took my money and then couldn’t supply the furniture, many calls and emails it is now four weeks since they took the money and still no refund. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY

$3300 down the drain
$3300 down the drain - no furniture and no refund. Buyer beware! I am unable to get my money back and have reported to ACCC for investigation. Workers say they will process the refund each day or someone will call me back - that Craig is just out of the office. Four months of chasing money back. Initially Craig said if I paid he could get furniture on next ship from China. Later - 10 weeks later - a staff member said this was misinformation and the furniture was not made there and still hadn’t been made or sent from Indonesia. I said I needed the furniture within the 8-10 week timeframe (due to baby being born) and Craig assured me that would happen. All lies and still waiting on a huge amount of money back. Do not buy!
Terrible workmanship
Terrible workmanship I can’t believe they sent out a custom order cabinet with doors so crooked they look like they were installed by a blind man. Absolutely terrible workmanship very disappointing to say the least. Id advise to find a place with better standards

They will steal your money and never resolve any of your issues. I have been trying to get a refund for an order I placed 7 months AGO. I ordered a queen bed suite with a tallboy and drawers. Firstly, it came two months later than they told me. I was told it would be within 2 weeks, and after many emails and calls, it finally came 3 months from the order date.
Secondly, it came with missing essential parts, which we went to the shop to buy some and I had to fabricate my own essential bedding part because I was sick of sleeping on the floor for months as they kept giving fake promises.
Thirdly, the quality of the whole suite was so poor, it all broke within the first 2 months. The bed broke while we were sleeping! That's how poor the quality is. The drawers are faulty, we tried to fix them ourselves. In the end we took the whole bed suite to the tip because it was falling apart and unusable.
Fourthly, it's been 7 months since the order date, and I still have no resolution, no missing part, and no refund. Their customer service has been the worst experience I have ever had with any online store, and I cannot believe they are able to trade.
This company is a scam.

The shelf of the radiator cover has loosened off due to not being properly stuck, when I complained my emails have all been ignored, after sales service not good.
Extremely poor
Item was very slow in arriving. When I tried to contact the store, they didn't offer much assistance and couldn't even tell me where the item was. One bed side table arrived with a big dent in the top. The other had damage from where the drawer handle had drilled in the wrong spot. Damage is shown in both photos. They tried to blame both issues on the courier. Staff were extremely unhelpful in resolving the matter, to the point where they blatantly ignored my emails enquiring about a resolution. Issue is still unresolved.
I strongly recommend staying away from purchasing anything from My Furniture Store. Don't have any positives to take from my dealings with them.

I ordered 2 large book cases over the phone in late August, 2021 and was asked to pay in full immediately. I was quoted 25 to 35 days for them to be delivered to me. I rang the company after 35 days and was told they would be in the following Saturday. I rang the following Saturday and was told they wouldn’t be in till the Saturday after. I rang the next Saturday and on and on, I was lied to every week until I finally found out the book cases hadn’t even been started to be built! They FINALLY made them…but one was the wrong colour which they insinuated was my fault. Well I have all the paperwork I signed off on from the order so I can prove it was their error. Then they said they would make another one in the right colour but I would have to wait and they would not deliver the one they actually got right first despite the fact that I had already waited months and they stuffed up my order.
I have asked for my money back but Craig said “absolutely not”.
These people just tell lie after lie.
My advice is DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. If you do, do not pay up front and if you multiply the delivery time they tell you by about 10, you might get lucky.
Didn’t even help fix / repair a broken product
They sent me a broken product and refused to take any responsibility for fixing or providing a replacement. Lost over $600 and they didnt even inspect the broken product.

What a nightmare ! After waiting for 10 wks on a bookshelf which was advertised 3-5 wks delivery , the item arrived in the wrong stain .
Contact was made via email and their response was that the bookshelf ordered was indeed stained as ordered in “Red Baltic”
They supplied a colour chart of what they called Red Baltic but this chart was different to the colour options on the website where I ordered the bookshelf from .

9 months- no bed. Refused to give refund
9 months later. Still haven't received the bed. Requested a refund and was refused. I'm now going through a lawsuit to get my $1700 back. I have wasted HOURS trying to chase down when the bed will arrive. Always promised the problem is resolved and bed on its way and then nothing happens. No bed, no phone call updates, NOTHING. I would 100% not recommend using this company.

Two fold - bad customer service - good product
I ordered a buffet with hatch from them, the only store who had what I was looking for. After placing the order I got a call later that his item is from China and has to be ordered in, which will take about four months. I said no, first I didn't want to have any furniture from China, and second, I didn't want to wait that long.
A little later I got a call back from Craig, who said we could have this particular item made in Australia. And it would only be about four weeks, not four months. Albeit it was about $200 more expensive I said yes. I paid the full amount including transport on the same day.
However, the order wasn't placed until one week after I paid, this shouldn't be. When you pay you can expect the order to be placed. But I waited patiently for over five weeks until I got notification the order is ready to be delivered. I waited and waited, after several phone calls the issue of delivery hadn't been resolved. Calling again someone from the call centre told me (very bad English speaking) that they look for a company to be able to deliver to where we live. We are not remote, but on an island.
I was not even notified that no one delivers to our location. I left a new address with the company, still nothing. Calling again, I was lied to that the item had been picked up.
This so-called call centre has lied to me several times. I called again, send emails, called again, until Adam picked the phone, by accident as he said. He normally is not on phone duty. He was fast to get the problem resolved, even did sent me a picture of the our item ordered, and later even an image of the paperwork. From then on it went rather smoothly. We now received our buffet, finally. However, it took way too long, and communication was lousy. No one really cared except Adam.
The buffet looks lovely, it's good craftsmanship, no problems with doors, hinges or anything else. It was packed so well, even if it would have been dropped nothing would have broken. We really like it. And it was worth the wait.
I will buy from them again, but I will make sure that this time I don't deal with these folks from the call centre who mess up customers and don't tell the truth. This is not a good reputation for this company.
I appreciate all Adam has done for us, he was honest, straightforward and fast.
If it wouldn't be for the general lousy customer service I would give them five stars for sure. The quality is great, no complaints about this. So is the style.
I strongly suggest for this company to drop their useless call centre and take matters in their own hands. I'm sure it would help a lot to improve public image. If you deliver good quality goods the service should match it.
Multiple customer service failures- avoid this store as likely to lose your money.
I even asked for a manager to call me about my multiple poor experiences to give them one last chance to fix and let them know that I would put a review up on the intranet documenting. Now four days later they still haven't bothered to call me. I ordered a table in June 2020 to be delivered in August 2020. There has been ongoing poor communication and conflicting communication from them, failure to deliver as agreed and repeated failure to meet subsequent promises. Refusal to refund monies after the order not having been delivered as promised more that 5 times including an absolutely will deliver by March 2021 promise. Finally when they delivered in May 2021 (11 months after initial order and payment) they set up delivery 3 times before they actually delivered. Then when the product came it was not assembled as promised at the time of sale and they refused to assemble it except for an additional $150 fee. Suggest that everyone stay well clear and not buy anything from them as this business is highly likely to fail at this rate and you will lose you money.
VERY BAD SERVICE
On 11th Nov 2020 I have ordered a lowboy (order ID #27196) and wrote a good review for the service I got at the time, however after FULL 5 MONTHS I still haven't received my order. I have contacted them several times and received different responses: one said the item was discontinued, others said there is a delay on the shipment due to Covid.
Feeling manipulated, a month ago, I've wrote an email asking for a refund, to which I have not received response yet....
UPDATE: Still waiting for the refund and by today they are avoiding the contact with the accounting service and are making false promises. Very bad...I am disgusted.
UPDATE 2: I just got my money back in full (9/06/21), and it was a person called Adam that I finally got through and he did it pain-free. It seems that only this person works as it should be there. However this will not change my last rating, as the communication with their customers in general is very bad and manipulative.

If I could rate a lower star I would. I have been waiting for a bed frame since October 2020. I have been told the product will come next month for the last 8 months. I have asked for a refund 3-4 weeks ago with no luck after numerous emails and calls. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.
