With Paul Carberry as our guide we spent 18 months planning our first trip to New Zealand primarily to visit our Family who had moved out to Invercargill. We also wanted to see something of New Zealand while we were there and following many chats and emails Paul organised a wonderful trip for us. After our Family visit we drove all the way north from Invercargill to back to Auckland from where we flew home.
His knowledge of flight schedules, accommodation and basically anything to do with New Zealand was excellent. All the accommodation he selected was great - varying from B&B's to small and large hotels.
Its difficult to pick out individual highlights as the whole trip was great - but for us Doubtful Sound (although it rained A LOT about 10 cm overnight!), Kaikoura (seeing whales and the earthquake damage) and the Napier region where we really enjoyed the Gannet Overland Safari were the stand out experiences. We got to see Kea parrots in Arthurs Pass Village and visited the really pretty little Chapel which has a clear glass window instead of the usual stained glass so the congregation can see the waterfall tumbling down behind the church. The geo-thermals at Rotorua were also fascinating.
Driving in New Zealand was a pleasure and not having to pay for car parking at the vast majority of places was a welcome revelation!

All in all we couldn't have had better service from Paul and New Zealand In Depth and when we go to visit the Family again we won't hesitate to ask them to arrange our trip for us.

A big thank you to Harriet and the team in Buxton. Having never ventured to the other side of the world before and not knowing what to expect. We were blown away by the places and the hospitality of the New Zealand people. Paul put a six week itinerary together for my wife and I to visit NZ in February and March 2018. NZ In Depth had been recommended to us by friends who had used them in 2017. I could write 50 pages on the quality of Paul's efficiency, helpfulness and knowledge of New Zealand but I won't.

All I WILL say is that our holiday was FANTASTIC and if you find a company better than Paul and his small team to arrange an individualised NZ itinerary for you I will be astonished.
I completely recommend him - he is well worth 5 stars.

Whether you know exactly what you want to see in New Zealand or whether you haven't got a clue, Paul's extensive knowledge and attention to detail will ensure you have the time of your life. We had planned our "once in a lifetime" trip to coincide with a bit of international cricket. Paul was able to create a tailor made itinerary for us to fit in with the fixtures we wanted to watch, seamlessly providing us with excellent accommodation as well as fitting our trip round a visit to stay with a friend of ours. We experienced different sorts of accommodation with one thing in common - we were always made very welcome by the hosts, many of whom know Paul personally and with some treating us just like family. We were given all the information required for a fabulous break and just knew when we got back to England that we would have to return. So we did - different places but same amazing experience. We initially contacted Paul after recommendations from more than one source and we have since been able to recommend him with confidence to friends of ours who also had nothing but praise.

This was our second visit to New Zealand organised by Paul at New Zealand in Depth and as with our first trip everything went like clockwork and the experiences we had were unforgettable. This time we concentrated on South Island as in the second half of our visit we were visiting our daughter in Auckland.
Why did we book with Paul, well the main reason for us he listens to what you want and then plans a trip around us and doesn’t just offer you a standard package. We enjoy walking and as with our last trip he found us a 3 day trek which didn’t involve us carrying heavy packs and sleeping in bunk rooms. He also found us a good mixture of catered and self catered accommodation some of which was a bit quirky but Paul knew we like that sort of thing. I think what sums him up is that he listens and if necessary will change things right up to just before you go. Book with them as a company and you will not regret it.

New Zealand In Depth helped us to put together a fabulous itinerary giving us a tremendous experience in New Zealand. The various accommodations were well chosen and frequently exceeded our expectations adding to the over all enjoyment. The route directions were spot on and included many good suggestions for additional highlights on the routes. The trips, tours and experiences were well thought out and aligned perfectly with our interests confirming that they were in tune with us, their clients.

Found New Zealand in Depth while searching for a company to help me organize a trip to New Zealand around running the Queenstown Marathon. Based on my research and what other people said about NZ in Depth, I chose them to help my friend and I out and we were delighted with the result. Being from the US, I thought it was odd to go to a company in Great Britain to arrange an itinerary in New Zealand. However, from my first contact with Sally at NZ in Depth my concerns were assuaged. Sally was always available for questions and to work the itinerary based on what we wanted to do in NZ.

Sally asked us what we wanted to do while in NZ, the time we had available, and any other particulars. Based on our desires, she put together a detailed itinerary which we believe allowed us to see as much of the country as possible in the time available. Everything went like clockwork from the time of arrival to the end of our trip. The accommodations selected were all outstanding and close to central locations within the town we were visiting. The hire cars and intra-country flights all went smoothly.

After 19 days of marathon running, black water rafting, Sky Tower jumping, kayaking, hiking, zorbing, zip lining, and bungy jumping we are ready to go back. If we do, we will definitely call NZ in Depth to help with our trip again!

We came across Harriet and New Zealand In Depth at the Destinations Show in Manchester and thought that this was someone who could help us plan a road trip around New Zealand. How right we were!
Following several discussions with them we soon had an outline route agreed which, with a few tweaks, was finalised. We then left everything with them to make all the arrangements, using their extensive knowledge and experience without us having to worry about finding flights, accommodation, car hire, and some of the trips, although we were kept fully informed at all times with the progress on this.
Our dreams became reality when the final itinerary handbook arrived and all we had to do was follow it. All proposed timings were spot on. The accommodation whether in hotels, B & B’s or homesteads, suited us perfectly and we doubt we could have found anywhere better ourselves.
So many highlights included the geothermals and Maori culture in Rotorua, Hobbiton, Abel Tasman National Park, the helihike in Fox Glacier, the glowworm caves, the Dart River Safari, the Akaroa Dolphin trip topped with the overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound where we did whale watching, sea fishing (eating what we caught) and kayaking. Not forgetting also the many scenic drives along coasts and lakes and over mountain passes, the dramatic mountain scenery and the colour of the lakes as well as the wildlife. The cities Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch also had much to see.
Our expectations were exceeded and we would definitely recommend New Zealand as a country to visit, using New Zealand In Depth to help plan it all.

I came across New Zealand in Depth travel company by chance whilst researching holidays to New Zealand & would definitely recommend this company to anyone considering planning a trip there. The staff are friendly, efficient & helpful & put together a great package for my husband & I based on our interests. We stayed in some fabulous accommodations which had been personally vetted by a member of the team prior to their inclusion as part of their suggested itinerary's. You will not be disappointed if you use this company.

A huge thank you to Harriet, Rebecca and Paul at New Zealand in Depth for organising such a fantastic trip for us. From Lynn and Anita’s first chance meeting at a travel show in Manchester with Harriet in March 2017, to the face to face meeting with her at the Buxton office and everything in between, Lynn and Anita’s six week New Zealand adventure was wonderful. Chris joined us for the last 16 days and we managed to pack even more in to those days in the South Island.
Harriet was excellent to work with in setting up the itinerary, listening to what we like to do and making recommendations and showed a lot of patience when we had a rethink on some aspects because of Lynn breaking her ankle a few months before our planned departure). Rebecca in Auckland was very proactive following cyclone Gita’s impact on the road to Golden Bay and alerted us to the issues. She rapidly sorted an alternative and our two nights in St Arnaud was lovely. In six weeks, our accommodation (with only one exception) was exactly what we wanted and in many cases exceeded our expectations (the spa bath in Napier was a bit of a surprise!). Every trip NZ in Depth booked for us (with one exception – hasten to add, nothing NZ in Depth could have done about that) worked like clockwork and ranged from very enjoyable to downright amazing. When things did not go quite right, the team responded really well.
Would thoroughly recommend NZ in Depth to anyone considering a trip to NZ.

We have had 3 holidays with New Zealand in Depth. We first booked because of a recommendation from a friend. Chatted to Paul for ages until we felt like friends, told him what we liked and didn’t like and places we knew we wanted to visit, the type of holiday we liked (not too much driving each day etc). He then planned our holiday of 9 weeks for us. It just needed a couple of tweaks to get the final itiniary and we were set. We spent the 9 weeks having the most perfect holiday ever. Everything was perfectly organised and not a single problem. We had the freedom and suggestions to do what we wanted but knew we had a comfortable and friendly place to stay every night.
2years later we booked again, another perfect holiday covering parts we had missed on our first trip.
Our 3rd trip was with another couple who had health problems. Paul took these into account when plannng our trip and again another perfect holiday. We thought we knew New Zealand enough to plan this ourselves but felt the back up you receive from NZ in depth was important to us.
In all the weeks we have spent on these holidays we had a couple of hiccups, nothing serious but one phone call and everything was sorted instantly, better than sorting it myself as then we were able to just enjoy ourselves with no problems.

I would recommend Paul and New Zealand in Depth to everyone and have to many. We have had the most stress free holidays ever because of them and seen some places we wouldn’t have known about, eaten at places we might not have tried, and stayed in the homes of some lovely people all thanks to them. If I ever get the opportunity to go again I will contact them immediately to book it for me.

We booked a five week holiday in New Zealand returning in March this year with New Zealand Indepth. We cannot speak highly enough of this company.
