Paul and Darren came to my home and undertook damp proof work in my home. There were work was of a very high standard and they treated me with absolute kindness and respect.

George Buchanan and Josh Jones renewed my joists and floorboards in my kitchen replaced damp plasterboard and plastered the walls. They were very professional, efficient and very hard workers. The job was done in a timely manner and were respectful of client and the property. Friendly professional service

From the initial enquiry call to R.S. With Danielle regarding what we needed & an appointment secured the next day from Marie with details of the Surveyor Craig Davidson attending our property was all very informative, professional & friendly!
Meeting Craig from the get go relieved the worry we had on the findings from our Home Report where we had a level 2 traces of woodworm infestation!!
He was exceptionally thorough & informative & to have his report emailed to us on the same day was above & beyond, this allowed us to send it onto our Estate Agents & secured more viewings on our Property - relieving everyone’s fears!

Andy and George were out and done a fantastic job of replacing our bathroom floor, they came out and got their heads down and fired in about the job. Both Andy and George were very pleasant and tidied up after themselves. Brilliant company would recommend them.

I got R&S out to assess dampness in my home at my front door. Graham came out and assessed it and advised of the work to be carried out. He was very knowlegeable and answered all my questions honestly. He explained the process clearly.

After doing an asbestos test on my wall Josh was sent out to carry out the work.
He was very professional, explained what he was doing and tidied up as he went along. He went above and beyond to ensure all his work was completed to the highest standard. I was very pleased with all work carried out.

We had two workers in yesterday fixing a dampness problem in two different areas of our house. The work was carried out very professionally and both workers were polite and helpful. They covered entire areas where they were working and once finished the place was spotless. Highly recommend this company and thank you for doing a first class job.

R&S really are the experts and have all the knowledge and experience needed to solve a nasty problem like dry rot. The thoroughness and general responsiveness is excellent as is the behaviour of their teams on site. I have used them for 25 years on domestic damp and rot problems and their work has always stood the test of time. They aren’t cheap but you are buying peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Everyone we came into contact with from the Dundee office was first class from Allan Brown the surveyor to Steven Traynor the works manager and last but not least to the excellent work from Bob Emery the technician - great staff and great assets to the company - thank you!

Evan and Darren were great - pleasant, efficient and very hard-working. They treated all the wall ties in the building in good time and with minimum fuss. It was a pleasure to have them working round the house.

Mark was extremely helpful and explained things clearly. He also suggested resolutions to my problem. 10/10

The surveyor Craig arrived on time and explained in detail what he would do in order to access and survey what I perceived to be a wet or dry rot issue beneath my hall floor. Craig donned his overalls and accessed the sub floor via a hatch in the cupboard. He described in detail his findings and to my relief there was not timber decay. Craig put my mind at ease by taking photographs on his phone and showing me the timbers and flooring. He presented as very informed and knowledgeable and explained that his background in building goes back to his teens. Thanks for a thorough survey and without doubt my interaction with Craig gives me faith should I need Richardson and Starling in the future I would not hesitate.

Survey completed on dampness in bedroom, Craig was very knowledgeable and gave advice on some quick home fixes as well as devices on how to solve the problem, no harsh sales pitches just honest advice. Report with me on same day!! Good service!

My basement’s humidity problem required replacement of old vents, new ones to be added and Visqueen and concrete to seal the solum. After a short delay in starting the work proceeded smoothly and efficiently, being completed in 5 days (I was quoted “a week”). Billy and David were punctual, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful tradesmen who explained as they went along and cleaned up afterwards leaving the property tidy. I am confident that they did the job to a high standard and would recommend their work.

We had some work done recently which included plastering the walls once the damp proofing was complete and replacing the skirting boards- this was included in the price and in the work schedule. The plaster work was terrible- the finish was rough and the skirting boards had been replaced but leaving gaps between them and the wall in some places, We corrected the work ourselves and covered the cost of this. We had to chase R&S up for the invoice in order to make the payment and receive the guarantee. We informed them of the poor plaster work at that point, but when we received the invoice the next day there was a mention that the plaster work was not covered in the guarantee. After several emails back and forth, we were told 'this type of plaster work' isn't guaranteed.

The email also implied we only raised these concerns when it came to paying and we were asked 'I am taking it this is due to Richardson and starling now wanting payment? I am not really sure what you want out of this', implying we were asking for a reduction in fees.

We weren't. At no point did we ask for any reimbursement. We wanted to know why the plaster work wasn't covered by the guarantee when it is mentioned in the job plan and quote.

There was no acknowledgement from R&S that the work was of poor quality and no apology. They eventually agreed to cover the plaster work in the guarantee as a matter of goodwill, but really failed to see the point we raised.

They need to work on their communication style and also be aware that some of their tradesmen are delivering work of very poor quality
