I have wanted to do a balloon flight for many years and yesterday my wish came true. It was everything I had hoped it would be. The pilot was very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. The views were stunning over Rutland Water and surrounding area. The booking process is very simple which is just as well as we had to do it 5 times before our flight went ahead due to unsuitable flying conditions the 4 times previously but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!

Wonderful experience
It took us 8 years to fly due to cancellations because of the weather not being suitable to fly
However it was worth the wait- excellent experience, Nobby and colleagues very friendly and professional, stunning views, unfortunately hurt my leg jumping out awkwardly but it didn’t dampen my experience 😀
My advise? Do it!

Well organised, exciting participative experience
Very helpful telephone staff at Virgin making arrangements. Given how unpredictable ballooning is, they do their best to make it work for everyone. On the day we had Nobby as pilot who was very experienced and explained the ins and outs of it as we went along. The flight itself was quite exciting at take off and landing as the winds were at maximum allowable for commercial ballooning but we always felt in very safe hands. Altogether an excellent experience and well worth the money.

We finally got there.
It took us 2 and a half years to finally get airborne. It kept getting cancelled due to weather. However, it was definitely worth the wait! The weather, the views, and the crew were outstanding. An experience I'll never forget. Thank you.

Great flight though felt a bit short
The pilot and support staff were friendly and helpful. The flight itself was great although it seemed much less than an hour in duration. We were told it was being moved to York racecourse from Lotherton Hall due to “operational reasons” which did sound a bit ‘vague’ and make it a much longer journey.

We’re sorry to read that the flight felt shorter than expected, and that the move from Lotherton Hall to York Racecourse meant a much longer journey for you. We also understand why “operational reasons” felt too vague and we apologise for this. We just want to re-assure you that the pilot will have had a valid reason for changing the launch site and wouldn’t have made that decision lightly, but we agree that perhaps a better explanation should have been provided for clarity and we will certainly feed this back.

First time in a balloon
Thoroughly enjoyed being in the sky, it was really peaceful. Pilot (Gavin) was a good guide and confident. Space in the basket was a bit cramped. Having paid for the experience, I think it’s really poor that passengers are expected to do the work to get the ballon ready and then put it away afterwards. 5/5 for the flying. 0/5 for having to do the work. Marks and Spencer don’t make me knit a jumper before buying it.

A wonderful experience I’ll never forget
From beginning to finish, this was an amazing experience. The highly professional , friendly and expert team made the whole adventure wonderful. And the balloon flight itself was a never to be forgotten opportunity. The serenity of the flight , the expert take off and landing and the feeling of camaraderie was second to none.

Absolutely fantastic trip
Absolutely fantastic trip, Sarah our pilot was very funny and informative. Her ground crew who sorry can’t remember there names were brilliant. All the people on our trip were lovely as well. Also had a lady who was 90 on our trip who was amazing. This was our second trip and would high recommend to everyone. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. Great experience.

An excellent flight
Very well organised. Russell (the pilot) was first class and got us all involved in getting the balloon up at the start and packed away at the end. The flight was smooth and we felt very safe. Very good views too. Light winds meant we didn’t go very far. We had to be postponed several times due to the weather but were always told well in advance.

The staff and crew were excellent. I LOVED the whole experience and take off and landing were great. Love to do this again though it has taken me since October 2022 to finally make it. Absolutely fantastic experience. We flew from Bath. Perfect weather. Great team. Loved Nobby's humour. Looking down from 3000 feet in silence (apart from when the flame was on obvs) was quite magical. Can't recommend it enough.
