We needed some paint matched using the…
We needed some paint matched using the paint mixing machine and we were lucky enough to have Ali, the operations manager, who was absolutely brilliant. He matched and mixed paint just from having the machine take a picture of the paint charts and went through lots of operations I don't think others could do. He was charming, intelligent and so super competent. We had been to B&Q and another Wickes and they were absolutely useless. Wickes is so lucky to have him. What an asset! This man, who used to work in IT, is so clever. He must be rewarded and given a huge pay rise.

Wickes falls to send confirmation of a cancelled order even after more then two days after it is cancelled before delivery is made. All the customer service call operator suggest is tell me to wait. Contrast this with Amazon. Email confirmation of confirmation and refund procedures are almost instant. This suggests Wickes operation is convoluted. The call centre is not enabled to make decisions, unlike that of Amazon.

Great service
I needed to pick up a product that was in low stock, so the system wouldn't let me reserve it, something that although I asked in other shops they wouldn't share with me, letting me guess of the reason. But a quick call with the lovely Michelle, not only cleared that piece of information for me, but she also found the product for me, reserved it at the back of the shop and confirmed I can pick up till the end of day, that made the 13 mile drive worth it. Also, made some opportunistic buys on the day, as I found much more choice than other Wickes I have visited before.

Negative into Positive….
Went into Wickes Hanger Lane and asked a very unhelpful staff member where the different types of double sided tape were - I was right by the items and he said whatever was there. In contrast I went to the counter after selecting what appeared to be adequate but not exactly what I wanted. I was greeted by Bev who pointed me to a different area of the store and I found exactly the item I was looking for. Bev turned a negative experience into an extremely positive one and I would like to commend her for the excellent customer service she provided to me. Thank you 🤩 Bev - you are a star!
