I am next of kin for a 96yr old very close friend who has no family and up until recently was able to live independently. Following a hospital admission it was clear she would need social care in discharge. An assessment was carried out detailing 3 visits a day ( with a friend calling every day for a lunch visit as well)
It was agreed that she needed help with washing , dressing, meals and medication morning and evening . The lady has cognitive delay and although she is still able to make some decisions, she does not recall if she has eaten or washed or if she needs to put on clean clothes. One of the carers is kind attentive and very good the others are definitely NOT. Over the last few days my friend has been wearing the same dirty clothes ,she doesn't appear to have been encouraged to wash/ shower and not one evening meal ( microwave meal) has left the fridge for 4 nights !!!!! She may not eat them but they should be cooked ,put on a plate and given to her on a tray!!! I guarantee she will eat at least some . I am disappointed that I had to call the man who did the assessment for the 2nd time today as this also happened last week.

Since day one of Wendy from ECL working with my son he has received an incredible amount of support. She always goes above and beyond to find him opportunities and to encourage his growth and skills. He has grown in so many ways through his experience working with her-we have seen him approach situations with much more confidence and open up to different possibilities. Wendy has always supported Jack in a mindful way which has shown a perfect balance of understanding and encouragement. We are very grateful to Wendy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Elaine and Caroline of the Inclusive Employment section of the Maldon Branch were excellent at helping David, my uncle, into work. They worked closely with him to find the ideal role. When he found a job they attended to ensure that he fitted in well and helped with bus routes etc. They also helped with communication with the employer and helping them understand his needs. It is no surprise that ECL have won awards for this service. Thank You!!

My mum started going to ECL in Loughton for one day a week earlier this year. She was initially really nervous about attending, but Oliver and the team were so welcoming, and quickly put her at ease, making her feel so comfortable that she now goes three times a week. The team are caring, engaging and fun, and keep everyone busy with different activities like quizzes, games, dancing, baking and crafts, and they regularly organise trips to the pub for lunch or visits to local museums and events, to break things up. Everyone, including the carers, are made to feel like they are part of the extended ECL family and the centre is now like my Mum’s second home. At one point, she said that she would happily just move in there, if they’d let her, so that speaks volumes! I honestly can’t recommend the day centre and the team enough. They are all fab, and I don’t know what we’d do without them now!

Thank you Linda my sons initial contact at ECL in Colchester for your helpful friendly approach and for making my son feel relaxed in his first meeting for him this can can be a challenge, he needn't have worried you are great.

Sheila has been absolutely astounding as a job coach. She has supported me to get a qualification. She is incredibly hard working and kind. She is an amazing person and has made such an impact on me. She goes above and beyond. Thank you Sheila for helping me.

I have been greatly impressed by the Day centre and all its staff at Torrington Drive Loughton. From the first time I met the manager Oliver he was so helpful and friendly. He is dedicated to caring for people and making a comfortable safe environment for them. My mother who first started going in August this year is 96 and really enjoys her days spent at the centre. They have a wide and interactive range of activities but it is not robotic and scheduled. The centre is very homely and I know my mum is benefiting from attending. My mum always tells me how all the staff are so kind and attentive. I remember Oliver saying how he believes everyone should be respected and valued and I think this principle seems to make the whole team work well .It is so difficult to make decisions for elderly parents but I feel this day centre certainly was a lucky find. Just wanna say Thank you to Katie Connolly who supported me through my new job I’m gonna start. She helped me fill forms.

My worker's are Lynn and paddy they have done more for me in 2 meetings than what anyone has done all my life, they're brilliant.

Katie at ECL has been fantastic at helping my son receive a job offer for his dream job. She has been very understanding throughout the process and has given great advice and support.

The help and support I was given @ The Ashley Hub, made a very stressful time for the user and myself all a little bit easier.

Working with Katie (ECL Community Connecter) has been amazing for me, everything has worked and is working extremely well. I always feel supported and cared for. My needs are listened to and respected which is a huge thing for me, so it makes me feel super comfortable in the hands of Katie’s support knowing she will take action when bringing up things I need.

ECL have been a massive help with finding me employment, with the standout individual being Melanie Johnson. From letting me know of opportunities that I would probably miss, to helping me optimise my CV for different job roles. From offering moral and interview support, assisting with job applications and offering get togethers where I was able to better learn how to work within the current job market.

Without ECL It would be fair to say that I would have had a much harder time with things.

I have mild autism. I currently work at Odeon Cinema in Chelmsford which ECL have helped me apply for the job. Caroline supported me for a while and made sure there was some reasonable adjustments for my interview which really helped my confidence and she has helped me get settled back into a work environment along with a few other job coaches at ECL which I’m forever grateful for! Having autism and finding work is not the easiest thing in the world but I’m so happy that it turned out to be a success thanks to Caroline and a few others who have stood by me for a good while! I’ve been working at Odeon for 18 months now and I love my job there!

This is company are great. Helped me in every step. Job hunting, applications, covering letters, sorting out my CV, supporting at interviews and checking on me at my new job. I highly recommend getting this company for people with disabilities wanting paid employment.

I am very grateful for the support ECL inclusive employment have provided my daughter for her work training .The help is very supportive and tailored to my daughters needs , including online training - all of which enables a learning disabled person grow in confidence in the work place .
