The experience was great from the day I was given a quote up until completion. James was fast even though I knew the deadline for end of financial year would keep them busy. I didn't have to chase for anything, everything was clear and concise. James made buying a house such a breeze!

Extraordinary first experience with GD.

We had a great experience with GD Solicitors, finding them both efficient and excellent value for money in helping us meet our deadline. They were initially recommended by a friend, and after shopping around, we found they gave the best quote along with a user-friendly app that made the process smooth.
Our case handler, Khurram, was professional, polite, and consistently helpful, giving good communication throughout. The main reason we would highly recommend GD Solicitors is their commitment to ensuring we completed on time, which ultimately saved us from paying additional stamp duty as first-time buyers.
The only negative was that there were occasional delays in getting through due to high demand, but we understood the pressure they were under. Despite this, Khurram went above and beyond, working tirelessly until the very last moment to make sure we met our deadline and were completely satisfied.

I chose to use GD Legal based on the positive reviews I had seen online.

My experience started off well with an initial phone call with Lewis Rabbani, which was reassuring. I explained my situation and specifically asked if my mortgage company was on their panel, to which I was told they were. With that confirmation, I proceeded with instructing them.

Unfortunately, things quickly went downhill.

Initially, I was assigned a case handler, but she was removed from my case within a day. I was then reassigned to Andrew Riley, who was completely unresponsive—only replying after multiple emails. In the entire process, I spoke to him just once. Eventually, Andrew set a completion date, which felt like progress after the delays.

However, things took another turn when I received an email from yet another case handler, Sophie Leathley, informing me that Andrew had left the company and she would now be handling my case. When I asked if the completion date was still viable, I was shocked to learn that much of the required work had not been done. Unlike Andrew, Sophie was responsive and provided regular updates, but by then, the damage had been done.

After the completion date passed, I was hit with yet another bombshell: I was now being told that my mortgage company was not on GD Legal’s panel—contrary to what I was originally assured. As a result, they would have to outsource to another solicitor.

At that point, I had enough. I cut ties with GD Legal and transferred my file to Gorvins Residential, who managed to complete everything within just four weeks.

My experience with GD Legal was appalling, and if it weren’t for Gorvins stepping in, I would have lost the purchase. Their app, which is advertised as a key communication tool, was completely neglected—messages were ignored, and documents were never uploaded.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what I did. A freehold house with no chain on either side should have been a straightforward process.

The only positive in all of this was Sophie, who inherited a bad situation but at least tried to be helpful.

Following an awful experience with this company, I followed their internal complaints process and didn't get any response... just ghosted.

I've now registered my complaint with the Legal Ombudsman.

Amazing service … Jieyi Xie couldn’t do enough for us , we initially instructed for the sale of our house which went through without a hitch , a month later we instructed for the purchase of our new home … if I could give 6 stars I would .. excellent service

She was always contactable, helped us understand our options and drove the wider chain forward on our behalf. Her title is trainee conveyancer, there is no way this lady is a trainee! Took a bit of a punt on GDPS as they were quick off the mark in contacting me following seeking online quotes. My account handler was Nafees Khan and I felt that I was in good hands from the outset. Communication was clear, even when he had a week off, there was a well communicated hand-over to a colleague. Nafees was always polite and courteous, and pushed the other party when required. Would absolutely recommend GDPS based on my recent experience.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Myisha Winnard and Amy Konig on the legal side of completing my first property purchase, and I cannot recommend both of them highly enough. Can’t recommend this company enough they provide a Class 1 service and this is the third time I have used their service!
