Sent a message about electricity/solar billing discrepancies. Anthony called and we explored possible reasons for the issue. Anthony had good in depth knowledge and was able to explain to me, a home owner, possible reasons for the issue.

Further to this he spent some time going over possible future options for our house and solar systems as we consider upgrading to a battery system. The information was useful and explained in a way that was easy to understand.

Three Independent companies got in touch and explained the different system (solar & battery) we could invest in. At no stage did we feel pressured and I would recommend others to use this site with confidence.

I asked for two quotes in late March to get an EV charger installed, and solarquotes did their part, but unfortunately their choice of contractors let them down. It took almost a month to geth one installed. They didn't follow up like they said they would. If they had, I would have told them about the ordeal.

Both companies contacted me within a day. So far so good. One called me and, after discussing details, promised to send me a quote. That quote took two weeks to eventually turn up, just as I was about to accept the other, and it was 33% more expensive for the same charger.

The other company was based in Wyong, quite some distance from me in Hornsby, so I can understand that they wouldn't be making a special trip just for my charger. I had to fit in with other jobs. Not sure why SolarQuotes chose someone so far away.

Communication with the Wyong company wasn't great. Phone always went to voicemail and sometimes even that wasn't available. Emails sometimes took several days to get a response, and some emails seemed to go missing (they're using some job management system that seems to be glitchy). I was almost begging to give them business but I obviously wasn't a priority. Even just getting the details to pay a deposit was difficult. I almost gave up on them a couple of times, but was also having trouble getting anywhere with attempts outside of solarquotes.

They said I needed to pay a deposit to lock in an install date. I paid the deposit and then it was another couple of weeks before it got installed. I kept asking for an install date and couldn't get a firm date until a couple of days before.

They eventually did the job, but I'm not particularly happy about a couple of things. 1) They installed the isolation switch too close to the charger, so I can't wrap the cable over it as intended. 2) They didn't install the grid CT clamp, saying that as I don't have solar it isn't needed... which is technically true but it is a safety feature that comes with the Zappi and is intended to be installed to prevent overloads and allow monitoring. They did offer to come back but I gave up trying to pursue it with the one week delays between emails.
This was meant to be a test run before I looked into getting solar. Needless to say, I'll be trying elsewhere for that.

They are really helpful, will teach you how not to fall to fly by night installer, and the proper installation of the unit so you have an idea and most of all, they will recommend you some legitimate and honest installer. I've learned my lesson, choose your installer, before you choose your unit. Don't fall on the fly by nights installer by the time you need a service for you solar, they are long gone, choose the one whose in the business for a long time.

Only one quote received and it was double amount expeced.

This is the best place to start when looking for information regarding solar, home batteries and installers. There are so many products within this industry and it’s hard to compare apples with apples. The reviews and recommendations on this site help you make a short list of comparable systems and receive quotes from validated installers. It’s necessary and it’s brilliant.

I liked the independent information provided to help understand and make informed choice.

Both the recommended installers got back to me and I was able to choose a package with recommended panels, I did select Sigenergy for my battery and inverter as they were shown in a recent article (April 26), yet due to issues back in November 25 not on the recommended list anymore. Not sure if I have made the right choice (it was a little confusing to see Sigenergy mentioned as being a cheaper alternative to say Teslar with a picture of an install, yet not a recommended brand).

Good follow up to check if installers had contacted me. St no time did either installer harass me into signing up or pushing a sale, and answered any questions.
