God awful housing association there is one rule for 1 and another rule for another, I was recently sent a warning as I had parked outside a parking bay ( very petty ) but then you can get another resident who parks untaxed, uninsured and un mot'd vans ( SORN'd ) within the community parking bays and Citizen does nothing about this they just allow it and this resident DOESNT get a warning even though its Illegal and they have done this many times......And then you make a formal complaint about your housing manager via Citizens portal and yet again Nothing is down so maybe contacting the board members is my next port of call namely Kevin Rodgers or maybe someone else or even the entire group of board member CITIZEN HOUSING YOU ARE IN DIRE NEED OF HELP AND STOP MAKING EXCUSES

Awful is a compliment. This housing association is classified one of the worse in UK. Completely disregarded about the tenants, whatever will be the problem, they do not care, the neighborhood is left in the hands of criminals, left in dirty conditions with mountains of rubbish. You contact them for any problems and there is no answer, you are completely ignored. They just harass tenants for the rent even if this is paid in advance, this housing suffers about a severe office maladministration and incompetency. Recently in order to harass the tenants, they set up a spam call system asking for rent even if the rent is paid in advance, do not provide your phone numbers to this spammers. Rudeness and arrogance is the imperative. VERY USELESS....

I have never known a housing like this Harden,Optima family Optima now calling yourselves Citizen a change of name makes no difference. I've put up with racism, suffered with my mental health for many years not helped by neighbours who were doing certain things but were allowed to get-away with it. I was told racism was everywhere when I complained ...sorry do I live everywhere? I'm on about the estate I live on. I've had a lot of problems over the years police permanently at my door neighbours putting their noses into my business but not knowing anything about what was going on with me. Then I had a housing manager who judged me and told me I was an a bad mother to my children because she clearly had been in my life from the moment I gave birth she was inn my family home 24/7 so clearly knew me personally...what a marvellous gift to have to be able to sit at desk and know someone's entire life without moving a muscle. The same manager also more or less told me to go ahead and kill myself . No one within the housing spoke to or reprimanded this so called worker. Everytime I've spoken to the housing manager at the time ok people were working from home but even last year 2021 the housing officer was more concerned with her child . I was told I could have a managed move ...I have not moved because they could not manage it. My doctor and mental health consultant both provided supporting letters more than once and my doctor G.P emailed them explaining that they felt it would be beneficial to my health to be moved. They were ignored. So I am still where I am I might as well be in a linked cage. Not allowed to speak not allowed to listen to my t.v. I very rarely go outside because certain neighbours did something to me which has left me not wanting to associate with no one as all trust and confidence as been taken from me. Its as if they own the building. They can happily smoke cannabis every day and the smell comes into the bed room and my kitchen but I'm not allowed to complain the housing does not mind them doing it as the tenants in question provide a free gardening service. The police had to break into the property in 2020 as I attempted suicide the police said they would explain to the housing so I was not to worry about the door. A repair man came out he put a thin peice of wood at the top of the door and another peice at the side it was done in seconds . The housing then charged 160 pound for a new door. They were told that there was no new door so why am I basically being charged for a new door when all that was provided was two bits of wood. This is scamming. But when it comes to rent every ass has energy for me . Im not paying for a non existent door. Another neighbour was provided with a new door but hasn't been charged a penny. Yet I've been charged 160 pounds for two peices of wood that would cost no more than a few quid at B and Q. Two months ago I spoke to someone about the rent. I was told if I cannot afford the rent then I should find somewhere else cheaper to live. Last month I again spoke to someone about the rent and I was spoken to as if I was a child. Lindsy the budgeting lady is the only good person working for citizen. I had a surveyor attend the property to look at some cracks in the ceiling. He was the rudest person I've ever met talk about taking advantage of a vulnerable person. He clearly did not want to hear anything he was peed off he had to attend the property he attended with his miserable long face and complained I had been talking too long when I tried to finish my sentence he said " Right that's it I'm going if your not going to let me speak " he marched out of the property and slammed the front door so I told him some nice words . I'm tired of this housing . I think they are actually waiting to hear I'm dead. They want rent paid on time and all interior repairs you have to be Bob the builder. When something horrifically goes wrong. I hope they will take full responsibility. They are actually awful. As fir the person who commented about other people are liars and have nothing wrong with them its alright for you to sing their praises becausecvthwy sided with you on your problem and you got a good outcome. You wouldn't have been saying nothing good if you had lost your case. They are not a good housing and everyone is entitled to voice their opinions on citizen whethervits good or bad. If someone has treated me like crap why am I going to say they are good when they have not been good. They are rude , spiteful , have no empathy and they need to get rid of that William Carter he doesn't know whether he's coming or going. The man is very lost.

Rang the housing about a plug socket crackling and about to catch fire was told it not an emergency turn electricity off for 4 days then call us back .what absolute ass oles this company should be run by competent managers not the cretins that they do use .

One of the best housing association out there,most of the comments below are bitter tenants that have been taken to court over Asb who think they are superior over others that expect everything for free given on a plate.I can confirm citizen are excellent in everything they do for their tenants certain negative post below date 1aug is a prime example asb given through the court system for disgraceful behaviour a nightmare tenant that has put her neighbors through hell.Justice was served yesterday and she was given a 2 yr asb with her lies and disgraceful behavior even in court.
I thank citizen and the court system slapping a asb in a professional investigation for 5 yrs of a nighmare tenant.

They deserve zero stars, they are vindictive, malicious and supercilious organisations. They are biased and systematically prejudiced to tenants. They have disregarded any duty of care to tenants with disabilities and safety. Even have discriminated against tenants with disabilities to exclude them from getting one of their properties. Do not listen to complaints and are horrible in their customer care and services. Their houses are poorly built with cheap materials. You can hear your neighbour plug in the mobile phone to charge in a house. They take government grants to make profits for themselves while turning their backs on people of great need. They oppress and depress their tenants, especially those who don't have any voices. They speculate and interrogate tenants with loads of questions, only to say to them they are lying when Citizen is the biggest lying organisation. If you make a complaint about neighbours selling drugs, you are told you are lying and quickly dismissed. They will make a false report on their tenants, saying you are hurting your children or you have a mental issue. These people think God is sleeping and don't know what they are doing. I will live to see the day their dark corruptive behaviour is exposed. They evict tenants so they can raise their rents. A despicable company that needs an overhaul of staff and management. I don't know how they sleep at night. When anyone of their staff whistle blows, they are quickly forced to shut up, cover up and buck up. They have taken so many tenants to court on lies and fraud. This behaviour runs from the head right down. It's a matter of time before this level of corruption will be exposed.

0 stars if I could give them absolute joke housing company rob you blind of your money and do a cowboy job on building their houses they don’t care about customers they lure you in to buying a house and sell you a dream which later becomes a nightmare if you are in the market for a house stay away from Citizen they are con artists along with NHBC and Housing Ombudsman all what most of these housing companies do is along with NHBC and Housing Ombudsman is legitimise rogue traders Citizen housing has caused me and my family a huge deal of stress the new build house we bought is absolutely a joke they cut corners everywhere just to lost one of many issues they told us we’ve got our 12 month inspection after 7 months of living in this hell hole most of the issues that were clear and we had every right to point out and have rectified the agent from citizen was trying to fob them off half of the work including the garden which is a health and safety risk wasn’t even laid out properly it’s as if they rolled out the grass on top of gravel it’s that uneven filled with holes and ditches after completing half the work we were told that the rest won’t be done as we has gone past the inspection date but note all these issues were recorded on the inspection due to them not completing then in time they told us it’s our problem now STAY AWAY FROM CITIZEN HOUSING if you don’t want your life savings stripped off you the houses are not worth half of what they list them for and just to mention we live in a semi detached house which we have no privacy from our neighbours the house isn’t even sound proof so much so we can hear a pin drop its like we are practically living with our neighbours so people stay away do your research on citizen before purchasing a property from them not that I would advise to everyone else on the same boat as me I feel what you are saying

My mother and I have been complaining and sending notices to citizen about our housing situation and the conditions that we have lived in for the past 5 years! I’m 2016 we complained the ceiling is collapsing as well as the window as well as the top bedroom floor the damp and 100 other things wrong with the house. We asked to be moved and they didn’t we asked For someone to come and evaluate the conditions that we are in Who Is confirmed that the conditions we were listening were classed as dangerous the ceiling could’ve collapse at any moment. We were neglected and left to deal with it 5 years ! After chasing them for so long they responded keeping us Hanging by a thread giving us false dates of when they would come. Advising us to clear out the house for works to be done we cleared out the house at the beginning of the year and only in June they decided to come. My mother’s bed broke during the removal of all the furniture And from January on she’s been sleeping on the floor not to mention she is disabled and has a lot of health conditions. How we have been treated has been so unfair and unprofessional. No updates. No reassurance. Nothing. just lies and deception to keep us quiet. The stress this has caused has made my mum even more I’ll it has caused me to fall behind on studies as I haven’t had a proper place to study or write assignments. Even dogs don’t get treated like this

Citizen think that its fine to put in a fire alarm, that if it goes off after 5pm, an engineer has to come and reset it. This is in a complex that houses adults with mental health issues and brain injuries. We had to wait for 3 hours for it to be turned off last time. We were told it was manned 24 hours, they even put a sticker in the window saying the alarm was manned 24/7. Wasted 2 hours of the Fire Brigades time. The fire alarms go off weekly, so hopefully the Fire Brigade will fine them. Waiting for the complaints department to get back to me, waited almost a week now, so not holding my breath.

I could write a list about how use Citizen are, our front porch is rotting, we have no insulation in our bungalow, the mortar is falling out, the windows are painted shut, the wall in the car park is about to fall over, mold on the wall as we can't afford to put the storage heaters on, the list goes on, but Citizen know about all this and have done nothing in the 4 years I have lived here. But they have money for a stupidly loud fire alarm that can't be turned off after 5pm.

Dont even answer complaints for 2 weeks ago

electricians all on different rates of pay instead of everyone being on same salary. Causes bitterness and anger with some being payed more but doing same amount of work as everyone else. bosses just seem to turn a blind eye to it. in this day and age its called discrimination

I have been with Citizen Housing, formally Whitefriars, for just over 7 years, I do not understand why people give them such bad reviews, when I speak to staff on the phone they are always polite and helpful, their repair team are always polite and respectful of my home, my house is in good repair, probably because I carry out small minor repairs myself, I only call out the repair team when the job is too big for me or too advanced, small repair jobs can be easliy carried out by the tennents, perhaps if tennents put more time into being proactive and taking some of the responsibilty of maintaining their home themselves, instead of moaning about jobs that need doing, they probably wouldn't have that much to moan.
you might not own the house you live in, but while you're living there, it's your home, so you do have a degree of responsibilty when it comes to repairs or decorating.
Unfortunatley we live in an ungrateful society, my Citizen home is not big or posh, but I am privileged to have a roof over my head when so many people do not.
Basically, stop being whinney tennents and take some responsibility for yourselves!

Not satisfied with the service, they never call you back even when the call is escalated

I am absolutely disappointed and saddened by the way I have been treated by citizen housing. They have terrible customer service and me as a good tenant, always payed rent left my house in lovely condition have been left with no deposit back as they have issued it to someone else not on the tenancy! And have also breached my confidentiality and discussed my account with Someone else. I will be taking this further

The last few times citizen have been to do repairs I have been impressed with their workmanship I wish all were the same. Gary and another gentleman replaced the innings of my windows on march 2nd then today a plumber was out I forgot his name but found my upstairs toilet had been leaking for a while and replaced what was needed so he honk they deserve a big pat on the back👏🏼

This housing association is a joke! Live in a tiny two bed house and they are now putting the rent up to £470 something in April. Our house is just run by a water tank so we have the ‘new’ and ‘improved’ storage heaters which cost nearly £40 a WEEK to run if we was to use them. For some unknown reason we are paying more than everyone down our close for the exact same house as them bar from our bathroom is falling apart. Cracks in the ceiling, rusty bath, toilet doesn’t flush properly, taps turn all the way around, extractor fan leaks like a waterfall if bad weather comes. Absolute joke of a company you should stay away from them at all costs.

Been waiting for a call off our so called housing officer who hasn’t bothered to even address our concerns and his no where to be seen. Citizen don’t care!

Firstly why does a housing association change their name?? Dodgy much?? When you report drug dealers to your housing officer ainsley she refers you to the mental health,so anybody that reports drug dealers will be referred to mental health. In other words we will take the drug dealers side instead of anybody reporting them you are classed as mental to them.

No call back .no housing officer. Still having leaking ceiling. Citizen don't care.

Very poor customer services I called Friday to say the roof tile have been blown off and the water was running into my living room. They sent me a txt today for job to be done on 22nd march. I have just paid 500.00 to have it decorated now its ruined.
