Unbelievably Bad
Three pages of snagging on a new Cussins home ( 5 years ago) was bad enough, particularly when the initial response to defects was “that’s normal”. Some were relatively minor but multiple water leaks, incorrect wiring and blocked toilet due to incorrect design were serious. However, biggest issue is now external brickwork gaps (up to 5mm) which developed after snagging period. Despite having an independent report that the defects are structural the worthless (unless the house falls down) 10 year warranty doesn’t cover the repair cost and Cussins aren’t interested (when you eventually talk to them) as they only built the house and are not responsible for the warranty after the snagging period. No new house builder is without issues, but Cussins take things to a new level.
Underwhelming
Underwhelming. House signed off with multiple errors which were far beyond the expected snagging. Entire stone fascia around the door was replaced due to misalignment, different texture and colour from the rest of the house! Fence has recently failed in back garden, sub contractor sent to carry out remedial works has made things worse.
Don’t buy a Cussins home if you haven’t got the patience or time to put into rectifying things, because you’ll find that you need to oversee all remedial works otherwise the result will be unacceptable.
2 years is not really long enough for the warranty, as this ticks down fast due to the dilatory response to most repair issues; it should be 3 years or longer.
Cussins Summerson property
This was our first time of searching property in the UK. When we lost way to go another property site. Carol Norman was very helpful to give us how to get the site and invite us warmly to see properties in Summerson Place. After finished the original site visit, we went to Carol’s office to do site visit. Carol was very friendly, and helpful to tour their properties and patiently answered our queries We were impressed by the quality of the property and location and decided to make a purchase on that day. Carol also closely followed up the purchase process and made many valuable suggestions related to the interior decoration.
Keith (site manager) is also very helpful and promptly followed up the list of snagging report even though we were not in the UK. When we came back the UK. Carol and Keith explained the operation of houses’ utilities in details and followed up minor defects raised by us. Overall speaking, we are very satisfied with this purchase.
Amazing Riverside Development
Amazing.. It’s my first sole purchase and I have to say I was petrified. As soon as I engaged with Caroline at the Riverside development she made me feel such at ease and has been absolutely brilliant. She has helped me all the way with options for kitchens etc and colours and basically made me feel more than just another sale. The quality of the build is excellent and everything is very high end not cheap and nasty as with some other builders. I get emails with updates on how the build is going which is really good. I am so looking forward to moving in to the property. Thank you Caroline and Cussins.
A house-building developer that's stand out.
Great house, good layout, quality fitments, lovely location, good build quality - and best of all personal service from Cussins both during the build and afterwards, the latter being a big selling point for us.
Excellent customer service throughout…
Excellent customer service throughout the whole purchasing process. It can be stressful but the Cussins staff went out of their way to make the process as smooth as possible. Zoe our sales agent was excellent, very knowledgeable and gave great attentive service throughout. Carol the sales administrator was also excellent getting the solicitors and admin over the line to keep us sane!
We've had new houses previously but this one is far superior in the quality of the content, style of property and estate layout. The ability to flexibly upgrade the house was very attractive to us as the choices provided by Cussins were wide ranging. It meant the house was turnkey ready on completion without need to hire contractors after moving in.
Like all new houses there can be teething problems but Cussins have been excellent following up and resolving any issue without delay.
Highly recommend Cussins. Quality build and customer experience
I couldn’t recommend this builder enough. From the first day I rang the sales number to enquire about a property to now being happily settled in my lovely new house for two months. It’s been a stress free, enjoyable experience throughout.
Carol Norman (sales) is an absolute credit to this company. She has been so very helpful and caring, never pushy and always goes that extra mile for her customers. Thank you for all your support throughout this process Carol 🙌 can’t thank you enough!
Keith (site manager) also gets a big shout out. So approachable and reliable. After being in my new property for 7 days I presenting Keith with a small, minor lists of snags. Keith was straight onto them, with the majority rectified within hours. Thanks Keith!
My third big shout out goes to Matthew. Such a nice guy that will do anything to help you out, always with a cheery smile on his face.
Having previously purchased a new house from another builder, Robertson’s homes, I couldn’t stress enough how much of a case of chalk and cheese my experience has been throughout my home purchase joinery. I would highly reccomend summerson place and Cussins from not only a high q build quality perspective but also from a general new home buying experience. The operational team at Summerson place being the real jewel in this company’s crown.

Cussins riverside south shields
When we first realised cusssins were building new homes on the riverside we knew immediately we just had to have one . From sending our 1st email to finally signing we were informed every step of the way how the process would work . Caroline from the sales office has been amazing throughout, answers emails promptly and calls when she has more information. Buying from plan can be scary but everything was always explained to us and we are looking forward to receiving our new home next month and enjoying those amazing river views .Thank you Caroline and Cussins
Great homepage - poor reality!
It's true that Cussins builds in beautiful areas, but with poor quality. Important information was not passed on during the sale so we had some negative surprises. With a better quality control and a bit more foresight a high rate of frustration could be avoided and Cussins would be able to earn even more money. The Cussins homepage promises a lot - the reality is a different.
My move went smoothly
My move went smoothly, and the aftercare service was second to none, the site manager couldn't help us enough and all faults were fixed within days. Carol in the sales office was brilliant and so patient with us as we couldn't make our minds up. Love the house and feels like home.
Woeful after sales care
As in line with the other reviews, they bend over backwards pre-sales, but their after sales is truly atrocious. 4 years on & we are still dealing with our snag list.
Don’t believe the hype in Cussins…
Don’t believe the hype in Cussins marketing material once they’ve had your final balance they’re not interested they leave all of the quality control for the customers once they’ve moved in.
Cussin's don't value their customers
Cussin's don't value their customers. Surrounding gardens drain into my property. This means my garden is frequently unusable. They have said that as the garden was built according to the plans the matter is closed. This is just one aspect of the terrible customer service I've experienced. Cussin's have no ambition to complete homes on time or finish the snagging process. I regret ever getting involved with them.
Award winning ??? Very questionable
The house itself is lovely, and leading up to closing the deal the service was fantastic. However, the post sale after care is shocking ! Six months in and my
28days snagging list has to yet be completed. Builders show up late at best that’s if they show up at all, the French doors haven’t been sealed off properly so
A brand new properly of 300k has mould barely six months into being lived in. No painters or decorators have showed up. I’ve escalated a million and one different issues to the customer care team who consistently respond that they have “escalated the issues to the sight manager” then never hear from them. Absolutely horrific customer care post sale, why should they care now anyway they’ve got the money ! .. the above are just a fraction of the issues which we faced post moving in the list goes on !!! Personally I wanted to go for trusted and “award winning” builders at this rate I might as well have went for the cowboys persimmons !
