I appreciate the customer service

I appreciate the customer service. The Paw Paw trees I received did have signs of insect/fungus damage on the leaves, but I am hoping they survive and thrive. Just a recommendation but including a brief planting/care card for each type of plant would enhance the overall experience and potentially help providing the plants the best possible outcome. Thank you so much.

Tim,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for recognizing our customer service.

Since we are entering fall dormancy, Pawpaw leaves can naturally develop spots, discoloration, holes, or generally look rough before dropping for the season. The foliage you see now is temporary—the important part is getting the tree established so it can produce healthy new growth next spring.

We also appreciate your suggestion about including plant-specific care cards. We currently provide planting and care information through the QR code included with our shipments, but your feedback about making instructions even easier to access is appreciated.

We hope your Pawpaws thrive for many years to come!

My blue flag Iris have yet to sprout.

Thank you for your review. Please don’t assume your Blue Flag Iris have failed simply because they haven’t sprouted yet.

Blue Flag Iris are shipped bare-root and dormant, and we are now entering their natural fall dormancy period. At this time of year, they may focus entirely on establishing their root systems underground and not produce visible growth until next spring.

Please leave them planted through winter and give them their normal spring growing cycle. We hope you’ll come back and update your review when those beautiful Blue Flag Iris emerge!

Planted 3 weeks ago but no sprouts

Respuesta de Tnnursery

We understand the concern, but three weeks is far too soon to determine that a dormant bare-root plant has failed.

These plants are shipped dormant, and when planted this late in the season, they often focus on establishing their root systems underground rather than producing sprouts above the soil.

In many cases, you will not see visible growth until the following spring when temperatures warm and the plant naturally breaks dormancy.

Please leave the plants in the ground through winter and give them their normal spring growing cycle. No sprouts after only three weeks does not mean the plants are dead.

We hope you’ll come back and update your review next spring when they emerge!

The potted plant had turned brown some and I planted immediately but it died anyway.

We’re sorry you were concerned by the plant’s appearance, but brown foliage in the fall does not necessarily mean the plant is dying.

As temperatures cool and days shorten, many of our plants naturally begin going dormant for the season. During this process, leaves can turn brown, dry up, and eventually fall completely from the plant. This is a normal part of the plant’s seasonal cycle.

The important part is the living root system, not the fall foliage. Once established and through its winter dormancy, the plant can produce fresh new growth when the growing season returns.

Please don’t assume a plant is dead simply because its leaves browned or dropped during fall dormancy.

We’re sorry you’re concerned, but please don’t assume the roots are dead simply because you aren’t seeing growth yet.

Our plants are shipped bare-root and dormant, and at this time of year they are naturally preparing for winter. Many will establish their root systems underground and will not produce visible growth until the following spring.

Dormant roots can look completely lifeless even though they are viable. Please leave them planted through winter and allow them to complete their natural dormancy cycle.

We hope you’ll update your review next spring when they have had the proper opportunity to emerge and grow.

No complaints

I've purchased a few trees from TN nursery and so far do hood. No complaints as of yet. The plants come well packaged and in a great time. If i had complaints I'd tell TN nursery first to see if they'll keep their word of making it right.

I was a little surprised that so many of the plants I received were plugs! I wasn’t expecting that. I must not have read the online entry carefully enough. In any case, they arrived healthy and many are doing quite well in the ground now.

Two out of six….

I ordered two plants and was sent six bare roots of various sizes. Those were planted immediately. Of the six, only two have come up. One looks strong, the other looks like it might not survive. My batting average here doesn’t look great. VA7-B

Thank you for your review. The fact that two of the six roots have already emerged is encouraging, but please don’t count the remaining four as losses yet.

Bare-root perennials do not all emerge at the same time. Some produce visible growth quickly, while others spend their first season establishing underground. Since we are heading into dormancy, the remaining roots may not emerge until next spring.

You ordered two plants and we sent six roots, giving you several extras at no additional charge. Please leave all six planted through winter and give them a full spring growing cycle before calculating that “batting average.”

We hope you’ll update your review next spring when you see what else emerges!

Very slow fulfillment process

Very slow fulfillment process. Frequent emails to sell me more or give related tips for items I hadn’t received. Took more than a month to get any response to my emails asking where my order was. No one ever responded directly. Just got the automated request for confirmation of receipt and this review. Roots are now in the ground. Will see in the spring if I wasted my money.

We’re sorry the fulfillment and communication took longer than expected.

TN Nursery ships living plant material, and processing times can vary depending on harvesting, availability, and the proper planting season. We also apologize if our automated emails reached you before a member of our team personally responded to your order-status questions.

We’re glad your roots have now arrived and are planted. Since they are bare-root and entering dormancy, you are correct that the real test will be next spring. Many will remain completely dormant through winter and produce their visible growth once temperatures warm.

We hope you’ll come back and update your review in the spring when your plants emerge.

Not a single plant of the three types I ordered sprouted (each in multiple numbers). I followed their planting directions to the letter, and I started the plants in pots that I could monitor for soil moisture. I will not order from Tennessee Nursery again. Shame, because their stock is advertised as really beautiful and things I’ve not found elsewhere.

We’re sorry you’re disappointed, but please don’t assume the plants have failed simply because they haven’t sprouted yet.
The plants we ship are bare-root and dormant, and following the planting instructions correctly does not mean they will immediately produce visible growth. At this time of year, many perennials are entering dormancy and will focus on establishing their root systems underground.

It is completely normal for many bare-root perennials planted now not to emerge until the following spring. Starting them in pots does not change their natural dormancy cycle.

Please keep them planted through winter and give all three varieties their proper spring growing cycle before determining they did not survive.

We hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised when they emerge next spring and will come back and update your review.
