We were let down by this company
We were let down with training. The videos they post are false advertising. They posted up a video of our dog who had been in 4 weeks training despite the fact the owner agreed the company had let us down and he wasn't able to walk to loose lead regularly despite me doing everything correctly. Our dog also came back with a bacterial infection that the vet said should not have gone unnoticed as our dog was itching it and nibbling at it the day he came home. The vet has said this had been going on for at least 10 days to get to the point it was at when we got him back. I contacted the owners and then got back some very rude emails trying to say that they had done what they could and that they did me a favour taking him back for further training. They took him back as the other owner had admitted the company had let us down. She also write some very derogatory things about our dog and that he was really bad when he first arrived. He had already been having loads of one to one sessions with a trainer with me and wasn't that bad. I just sent him as I thought it would speed up his learning if loose lead walking. She said he was barky and he was not s barky dog and as the one to one trainer I have can vouch for. I was then told by the owner Mike he would investigate my complaints. He said he sent emails and didn't took ages to get back to me. Sadly I've been very patient as I have never left negative reviews before and didn't want to end it like this. However, sadly I now am having to go through trading standards about the neglect which is evidenced by a vet and the training not working and false advertising. I really do suggest you think twice about sending your dogs to them. I spent every last penny of savings to be scammed and let down . One to one training with you is the best way to train your dog. They even say themselves in the small print that it can be really hard to transfer what the dog does with their trainer to you. I've stick ridgidly to continuing his training and the loose lead definitely didn't work and it has been getting slowly better with private one to one training. Don't waste your money I this company. It's so expensive and really not worth it and awful customer services

Tibetan Terrier Stella
We were very happy with the work Libby put in to Stella and hugely appreciate all her efforts. Stella was a big challenge going into this training between her separation anxiety and her reactivity but we definitely see a big improvement on her general quality of life thanks to her time with Libby, and the training that she have passed on to us. We were really happy with how often we received news and pictures of Stella while she was in training and particularly how much Libby has been in touch since Stella has been back home, even offering to help us a few months from now when we will be moving house. It has been wonderful to work with Libby throughout this process, and we could tell how much Stella liked being with her when she went over to give her a big hello the next time she saw her after coming home.
Real value for money
I can’t fault our trainer Verity who gave our 5 month old vizsla probably the best 3 weeks of his life! Under her care, he had so much fun and learnt so much. More importantly we learnt what he is capable of and how to get the best from him. After I injured my back and was unable to walk our dog for a while (he jumped and pulled on the lead really badly!) we thought that a stay at Adolescent Dogs would be a good idea to give my back a rest and help with instilling some good habits on the lead. The stay surpassed our expectations, however, and our pup came back with some fantastic manners and discipline. Verity’s thorough handovers helped us to understand how to continue her good work and her support and communication have been second to none. Our puppy is now growing into a lovely, well-mannered family dog who is a pleasure to walk and we really have Adolescent Dogs to thank for that.
Our dog was trainable all along!
Naomi has used kind training methods to make life more enjoyable for us and our dog. I cannot recommend her enough.
I rescued my Collie x GSD Juno from Romania in June 2018 and we got a bit more than we bargained for as she was not your classic timid street dog. She is confident, bulshy and highly intelligent. Her behaviour was very difficult to deal with as she would leap at traffic, passers by and bark aggressively and try to chase bikes and joggers. She was constantly on alert both out and in the house and never seemed to rest. As much as we appreciate her for what she is and understand that her background has shaped her behaviour, we had to do something and knew that a single behaviour consultation or weekly lessons wouldn't cut it with Juno.
Then we found Adolescent Dogs and our lovely trainer. I had some 1-2-1s with my other rescue Collie before and after Juno went for her stay and I was really happy with the results and meeting our trainer helped put my mind at rest as it then didn't feel like I was handing my dog over to a complete stranger for 3 weeks! I knew she would be well looked after.
During the stay it was lovely to get lots of updates and pictures as we were missing Juno so much. She looked very happy.
Juno returned 5 days ago and it is like having a different dog. We're trying to do everything we have been taught in our hand over session so her standard doesn't slip but it is actually easy to keep up with. She walks to heel past traffic and looks at me for a treat whenever she sees a jogger or cyclist. Running completely off lead is still a little while away but her progress is amazing. She is also a lot calmer around the house and will settle out in public.
Most importantly Juno really enjoys training so it is a good bonding activity for us too. Turns out she is not an untrainable dog!
Amazing review for Adolescent Dogs
Bruce’s behaviour was unpredictable at best. Out on walks he would happily walk past people without batting an eye and at other times would pull lunge and bark at them. Sometimes he would let people stroke him and other times he would run across a park to get to someone that was no threat to him. The most loving and affectionate dog to people that have known him since a pup, people knocking on the door and strangers coming to the house he had to be put in a separate room as he displayed a lot of fear aggression. With a baby on the way and worrying how Bruce would be we were desperate to put in some solid training to try and address his issues and make him more manageable. We found Adolescent Dogs on Facebook after seeing one of their videos. We contacted them and were initially apprehensive about sending him away for the 4 weeks they suggested but trusted their advice and are so glad we did. Verity was an absolute superstar. I think Bruce was quite a challenge and took a while for him to trust her but by the end of the 4 weeks he adored her. The regular WhatsApp updates and nearly daily photos and the weekly emails really put our mind at rest that he was fine and enjoying himself. Whilst Bruce understood commands before he would be stubborn as to when he listened to them. When he came home he was responding immediately. He was waking nicely on the lead and Verity gave us some great tips for handling him when people came over. She clearly has a fantastic knowledge of animal behaviour and training. The handover sessions and ongoing support since we’ve been home has been invaluable. 7 months after our daughter was born he has a great relationship with her. I cannot recommend Adolescent Dogs or Verity enough.
We are very happy customers
We are very happy with Adolescent Dogs and we can not thank Katie enough. Katie did such a good job. Katie’s training improved our dog's behaviour and it is a pleasure to have him around.
We really appreciate Katie’s hard work. We believed in Adolescent Dogs and we are so happy to say that your service met our expectations. We are impressed!
I’m so pleased with Delta’s trainning
I’m so pleased with Delta since she has been home from her trainning.
Delta stayed with her trainer for two weeks and in that short time she has come home to be a lot more obedient.
Instead of being cheeky and naughty, she has learnt that if she does what I ask she will get rewarded.
So Delta has become more keen to learn and to please me and I now enjoy spending lots of time walking playing and keeping up her trainning up.
Delta adores her trainer and I could tell from all the pictures and videos that she had the most amazing time whilst I was away.
We are so pleased with Katie and what’s…Puppy training.
We are so pleased with Katie and what’s she achieved with Oscar it’s made so much difference to us all.
The updates from Katie during his stay with her were frequent and pleasing with photos and videos, it was so nice to see Oscar in action he was actually smiling in all his photos.
The first hand over session was very good but a lot to remember, this is where the videos sent to us helps a lot as I think the owners probably need more training than the dogs.
We also had a second hand over at our house as wanted some advice on indoor training especially with our daughter and Oscar. Also introducing Oscar with our cat Ruby which I think will be a time thing as he’s far to lively at the moment for her.
We will definitely recommend you to any one and re-use you in the future.
A big thank you to everyone at Adolescent dogs.
Absolutely briliant!
Stan went off for 2 weeks training as he was your typical adolescent lab who had no boundaries, was over friendly with everyone and everything, he countersurfed and had selective hearing when it came to recall. She kept us fully informed of his progress and sent us many photos during his stay with her. When we went to pick up Stan after his 2 weeks training, it was like seeing a different dog! He was calm, focused and an absolute pleasure to walk. She went through all the training techniques in detail and spent lots of time with us going through those techniques. We had a further handover session a week later to go through any issues we had encountered once he came home with us. She has also been in regular contact since. I am so pleased with Stan’s progress, it has made our bond stronger and he is a pleasure to walk. I would highly recommend Adolescent Dogs to anyone as the progress Stan made in her care was absolutely amazing.
2 weeks socialisation 6 weeks training
We had a great experience with Rebecca from Adolescent Dogs who trained our Labrador puppy Malindi. She now has a great foundation of commands and we really liked the fact that training was in a home environment.
Andrea was an excellent trainer
We decided to use adolescent dogs through a friends recommendation and we left our four month Golden retriever for three weeks whilst we were on summer holiday.
We had a fantastic experience with Andrea!!
Rosie (our puppy) had a lovely time and we felt that Andrea was the best trainer we could have had for her
Warm, kind, caring but also specific and diligent with all aspects of her training.
All communication with her was excellent and we had daily photos and feedback.
We felt completely at ease when we left Rosie at her house.
All concerns, priorities and wishes were considered to structure her training and Andrea was brilliant!
She focused in all the areas we asked her to work on and Rosie made a great improvement whilst she was under her care. The handover lesson in the end was comprehensive, detailed and very informative.
I would highly recommend Andrea for dog training and we hope to use her again in the future.
Misrepresentation of Trainers' Qualifications & Experience
My 8-month old Labrador was booked into Adolescent Dogs for 5 weeks because of incessant barking and door aggression. The Advanced Senior Trainer I chose had an impressive list of qualifications and experience and her specialist areas included barking and aggression. A video of the problem was sent to the trainer before training commenced so that training could be tailored around this specific problem. After 5 weeks and once home the only way I could stop the barking and door aggression was to constantly feed treats when anyone came to the door, as I was advised to do. I was told it wasn't a “quick fix” and that dogs can “revert to old behaviours” so I persevered with the treat training and all the time she was being fed treats she was fine. I then received a link to the training video which showed my dog happily allowing a 'stranger' into the trainer's home without barking or showing any sign of aggression. She looked a different dog and I was thrilled so I wrote a 5* review based on the video and continued with the treat training hoping that eventually she would be as calm and non-aggressive at my door as she was at the trainer's door. Some weeks later whilst I was still treat feeding as there was no improvement without them, I discovered that the 'stranger' in the training video was a member of the trainer's own household who my dog had been living with for 5 weeks. I felt the training video was deceiving and complained to Adolescent Dogs who reluctantly offered a further week's training which I refused. After 5 weeks training with no improvement I didn't feel another week would help.
During the past week I started thinking about the trainer's background qualifications and experience displayed on the company's website and decided to look into it further. It now transpires that Adolescent Dogs' trainers' “Background Qualifications and Experience” mainly consist of webinars, seminars and watching dvd's. I brought this to the attention of Adolescent Dogs and all of the trainers' profiles were quickly changed on the website and now include webinars, seminars and dvd's.
Over 1,500 dogs have had training at Adolescent Dogs (although only 29 good reviews on here) and if their owners feel that the company has misrepresented its trainers' impressive lists of “Background Qualifications and Experience”, particularly if they were induced into a contract based on those qualifications and experience, they should write to Miss Jenny Trigg and Mr Mike Newland, owners of Adolescent Dogs. However, Miss Trigg will always lay the blame on the owner.

We can’t thank Adolescent Dogs enough!
We can’t thank Adolescent Dogs enough. We left a frightened two year old rescue dog who shrieked in fear every time he saw another dog and barked at new people and returned to a confident and friendly dog who loves playing with other dogs and meeting new people. To be honest we didn’t think the change could be so radical. We are absolutely delighted as it has changed our lives for the better as well as our beautiful, wonderful little dog! Our trainer really was magnificent, I wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending her or using her again if we had another dog with problems.
No Information, No Reassurance and Blame Mentality

Having saved for a year to book my dog into Adol, Dogs, I am very disappointed to say the least.
I ended up cancelling having found out just days before my dog went for a trial visit, that I am expected to meet the trainer in a park, and just hand my dog over. I am not permitted to visit the house or have the address where my dog will stay, and this is the norm! I was told an Advanced Senior Trainer was required for my dog, and given two options, one 2 hours away and the other over 3 hours away, then told the closest one was no longer available, so opted for the trainer over 3 hours away. I had to book my dog in for 3 days with this trainer for a trial visit to see how my dog coped, which meant I had to book accommodation near by in case I had to pick him up earlier, I did all this totally unaware that I could only meet at a neutral meeting place and hand my dog over to a complete stranger. I first asked for an address of the trainer on the 1st August and received no response. I then asked again last week and again received no response to my request, resulting in me contacting the actual company, as I had been directed all communication was to be to the trainer. Then I was told that the trainer would respond, which she did and somewhat aggressively telling me that her home was private and she could not have anyone just coming over there….! Initially I had been told that my dog was to have his trial in Sept, then this was brought forward to August, as she had no dogs there in August and this would be best. Imagine my surprise to be told today (18th Aug) that I could not visit her home when I brought my dog to her as she had a dog there that was anxious and nervous…hang on I was told that my dog would be on his own at the trial period. When I raised all my concerns and the fact that I had forked out over £700 on accommodation for myself and my partner up north, to be close by, I get told that I am someone who clearly lacks in trust and they have huge concerns about this… this is after I discover they have an “ADVANCED SENIOR TRAINER” just an hour away that actually specialised in my dogs needs and I confront them with it…
Now their trainer no longer wants to entertain my dog and she was doing us a favour as the trial was free, we would have happily paid for the trial, except that when they were talking to us on the phone and trying to bully us into booking 6 weeks, not the 4 they state on their site required for dogs with nervous aggression, they told me that our dog could have a free trial….! The whole lot stinks and I am very disappointed and upset as I was really looking forward to my dog receiving professional training but I have been left with serious questions, why have they not offered the trainer just an hour away, meeting them in a public place would have been so much simpler, not requiring us to book overnight accommodation, we could have met up once or twice till we felt confident in handing our valuable loved pet over, and not subjected to some sort of attack where we are left being told that we have “trust issues” as we wont drive 3 hours to Cheshire and hand our dog over to a stranger in a park and just trust that he will be okay and where we are told he is… Something that I am sure Max’s owners had wished they had when their poor dog suffered horrendously at the hands of one of their trainers, poor Max was clearly not where his owner thought he was.. Ya needs to learn something about customer training… and any vet or police officer worth their salt would not advise me to go to some park and hand over my dog to a stranger who is supposed to be keeping him overnight, unless I see the person beforehand, meet them and see where my dog will be staying! I don’t have trust issues, I have a gut instinct!

Educating Ada!
Our Spinone puppy was entering the ‘whatever’ phase when we left her with Adolescent Dogs this July. We possibly chose the hottest three weeks of the year - temperatures in excess of 30C for many days. Ada’s trainer Petra was amazing - keeping her safe in the excessive heat yet still managing to progress her training. We returned to an extremely happy dog who was far more responsive to us and whose basic training was firmly inbedded. We had two fantastic handovers - the first in a shady wood - it was still so hot! We were given demonstrations of all that Ada had achieved and clear instructions about how to carry on her training at home.
Adolescent Dogs say that training is 50%dogs 50% owners, I think they are being far to generous to us as owners! Petra has enabled us to enjoy our time with Ada even more with her excellent advice and hard work. We are very grateful.
Fantastic training experience
We can’t recommend Adolescent Dogs enough, especially our trainer, Jolene. She really is a wonderful trainer and very patient with Zac, our Border Collie - and with us! After four weeks of intensive training Zac knew exactly what he was doing. I suspect we weren’t such good pupils. In the handover session Jolene took lots of time to explain what we should be doing and let us try it out with Zac under her guidance - and then correcting us when necessary.
Zac seems to have had a great time with her and, although he was very pleased to see us (and us him!!), he had obviously built up a lovely bond with Jolene and this was great to see. We could see he was happy and had had fun while learning lots.
Now Zac’s home, we're all sticking to the new rules and he seems to be gaining confidence that he has to do what he did with Jolene with us too. We just keep repeating everything over and over and we're getting there. We've got the follow up session booked and Jolene has been in touch to check we're all OK. It’s really helpful to know she’s still on hand for those questions and guidance when we need reassuring.
We send our thanks and highest praise to Jolene. She really does do a great job!
This experience has changed our lives!
I left my rescue German Shepherd with the trainer for five weeks and at the end of the time she was a different dog. The regular videos and messages allowed me to follow some of her training and the two hour handover at the end of her stay allowed me to begin to change my behaviour towards her. I learned a great deal about how she was interpreting some of the messages (the wrong messages) that I was unconsciously conveying to her and both our lives have changed for the better. We are now going on long walks and if we meet another dog I feel much more confident to deal with the situation and keep her stress levels to a minimum. The trainer was very professional and well-informed and I have been delighted with the outcome of her stay. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone with a difficult or reactive dog.
Fantastic 3 week puppy training
Our Cockerpoo puppy had a 3 week training stay with Natalie from Adolescent Dogs, starting at 10 weeks of age. It was a bit of a wrench to part with our new pup but Natalie obviously loves dogs, loves training them and treats her charges as part of her family. The training she gave set our puppy up with great foundations in recall, lead walking, socialisation, and basic obedience skills. When she came home problems e.g. nipping were vastly improved and we have enjoyed having our puppy much more because of the training Natalie provided. It has been a really worthwhile investment for our family, and has a achieved a level of training we never would have managed attending puppy classes. It is also reassuring to know that someone is there for advice if we need it as our puppy grows up. We would highly recommend Adolescent Dogs.
Fantastic Puppy Training
Poppy is a lovely golden retriever puppy and although we had been to 2 different sessions of puppy classes we were struggling to follow this up out of the classes. As she was getting bigger and her jumping up at everyone was becoming a problem we decided to get some help and having read many reviews decided to proceed
From the first contact with Andrea the experience has been amazing. Everything was explained clearly to us and we understood what we needed to do. She supplied us with loads of pictures and feedback whilst she had Poppy and we felt happy to know where she was and what she was doing. It is lovely to see that Poppy was treated as part of her family and cared for so affectionately.
Poppy now consistently sits/down/wait/stay and no longer jumps up or steals food. Her recall is improving all the time and we are continuing to follow the trainer’s rules to achieve this
We have had 2 handover sessions as we were struggling a little with Poppy’s recall and the trainer happily gave us some more help and tips and has said we can contact her anytime if we need further help.
I would not hesitate to recommend your service to other people as I feel we are now able to enjoy our beautiful dog even more.
From manic puppy to a calm support dog
Back in March we introduced a working cocker pup into our family with the hope of working the dog with some of our hawks, she quickly decided to latch onto our toddler who is autistic and is currently awaiting major brain surgery.
It soon became very clear that the pup was his best friend and they became very attached to each other, our hopes of using her for flushing vanished and we quickly realised what a positive impact she had on our child.
He struggled to interact with us and was pretty much non verbal until the dog came along, he started interacting and playing with her and she seemed aware of his needs and would lie with him gently nudging him if he had a meltdown. Our biggest problem was she was such a lively pup and would barge her way out of doors at 100mph regardless of who was in the way, we knew that with our toddlers upcoming brain surgery we couldnt risk this and after many hours of research and debating what was best for us and the dog we decided to send her for training.
It wasnt an easy decision, we knew how close the bond was between the pair of them, we just wanted to ensure she was calmer around him and had good manners.
From the original email to the handover training session we have been delighted, Lila our trainer took it all on board as to how the dog needed to be calmer and to be his service dog, throughout her stay Lila sent us pictures and videos for our son as he found the seperation from his dog difficult to deal with.
The end result is absolutely fantastic and we are amazed at her progress!!
She is so much calmer, walks closely on the lead, doesnt charge around the house like a loonatic and her manners mean our little boy is safe around her.
Her training has exceeded our expectations by far and we highly recommend adolescent dogs and have already done so to other parents with special needs children who want the perfect buddy for their child.
A huge heartfelt thankyou to Lila for making our sons best friend a top dog!!
