Scummy scammers

After making initial enquiry with these people 'Martin' (guessing not the bloke's name) called me (actually despite me asking him not to call but just to answer my queries via email as I work shifts). Macclesfield number. I did have conversation with him in which I asked many many questions and he came across as very plausible and genuine. By the end of the conversation me and my husband were happy that this would be a good option for driving lessons for our 17 year old son. The next day we paid £1500+ for a 40 hour course and was told we would be contacted within 7 days by the driving instructor to arrange those 40 hours. The driving test was also booked for us for the end of January. Have since discovered this is also some scummy loop hole that this company aren't supposed to be doing (since May 2026 only the person taking the test can book a test - these people pre-book tests under other learners names and then swap their name for yours). So it got to mid week and no contact - as I had had a couple of missed calls which I think were spam from other people I thought I had better double check in case these calls were connected to the instructor who was supposed to contact me. So I emailed My Crash Course on Wednesday this week and did receive a very basic email to say that the instructor (wasn't actually given a name etc) would contact me on Thursday. Fair enough. Obviously nobody contacted me on Thursday. So yesterday evening I emailed the company again to let them know nobody had been in touch...and to my surprise the email bounced back. I then checked their website and it had disappeared. Called their number and constant engaged tone. Panic then set in. I tried to tell myself it was probably just a IT issues affecting all their systems. After seeing all the other reviews on here over the past 24 hours it's obvious it's not.
Fortunately as we paid on credit card we are hopeful that we will get the money back from the credit card company. The Fraud department of the credit card company are now looking into this.
The company claimed in it's emails and website that it had a registered address as Charter House, 1-3 Charter Way, Macclesfield and seem to have some connection with a company called Silkmoth (Klipboard Ltd) who are a software company who "owned and managed" the My Crash Course website. The 2 directors of this company may of course have nothing to do with this fraudulent activity and could be totally unaware that thousands of pounds have been stolen from innocent trusting people. I have written to SILKMOTH and Klipboard today to make them aware that they are connected in some way to this fraudulent activity. I haven't heard anything back but another review on Trustpilot mentions they have called Charter House in Macclesfield and they have absolutely no record of any company called My Crash Course. So it seems that My Crash Course has been adding SILKMOTH to their website and their address in MACCLESFIELD to things and also cloned their Macclesfield telephone number which is what came up when 'Martin' from the company called me last week....

Another bit of digging has uncovered that My Crash Course is the trading name of My Instructor Ltd - connected to somebody called Jordan Marcus BYRNE - company number 17001651 - My Instructor Ltd.... registered office two Friargate Coventry CV1 2GN. was only incorporated on 30th Jan 2026.

More digging - no used by fake driving instructor to arrange lessons & not turn up: 07984641378 (EE Limited)

One way or another posts have been made on Macclesfield Facebook pages to make people aware of what is going on. God only knows how many people have been scammed by My Crash Course. Local Macclesfield press have been informed too. Also BBC North West and BBC TV Scam Interceptors programme as well as Rip Off Britain. I would advise anyone else who has been affected by this fraudulent company to contact the local press and TV too and post warnings on social media so that we can stop these people setting up something similar and causing misery to thousands of people again. Email addresses are easily found by a quick Google search. If others highlight this company then it may lead to them being brought to justice.

I can only assume that as somebody else on here has said that the previous reviews were all fake.

It's been a stressful 24 hours. I only hope that everyone on here manages to get their money back.

I paid for the 25 hour intermediate course and was told that an instructor would be in contact within 7 days… I called on Tuesday and was told I’d be contacted by 5pm that day… nothing. I’m realising now the website, phone number and email are all down. My bank has been informed and are investigating. It’s pushed me back greatly as I needed the licence in time for Christmas. Utter shame.

Scam!! Paid £1135 for my sons crash course, lessons due next week. Spoke to a friend who had booked the same for her son and she informed me they hadn’t shown up and website and phone number not working. Tried to contact and blocked on WhatsApp, website gone and phone number not in service. Paid in full on debit card via the website, fraud at the bank involved, hoping we can get the money back. What a set of absolute tw#*$!!

Paid £535 for 10 hours with driving test now the website has disappeared with no number to call !! SCAMMED

I booked 25 hours of lessons and have also been ghosted- just like all of the other reviews posted in the last few hours!

To those people in the same boat as me- I phoned the fraud department of my bank and have been refunded my money as I made an Apple payment through the website before it was taken down. I hope others are able to do the same!

I feel so stupid paying the whole amount of money upfront for this service but the website looked legit and the reviews were good etc. It certainly looks like it’s been a scam website!!!

They are scammers. I'm not sure about other positive reviews maybe it is paid or their own team. I paid 720 pounds for 15 hours class. They said an instructor will contact me in a week and one guy named Craig did contact and said that we can start the less on 21st when my test date is 19th. He didn't even know that. After explaining a lot he said that we can start the class on 14th, I said okay. Just to confirm, I texted him on 13th and then he said that there some accident, so he cannot come on 14th. That too he said only after I texted him and he said he's sorry for late notice, when he didn't even tried to inform me. After a lot of explaining he said that he'll start the lesson on 15th and make sure that 15 hours is completed and he'll make me test ready. On 15th today, 8 am I was waiting for the instructor and no one came. I called him, but the call straight to voicemail. It showed messages delivered in WhatsApp, I called him atleast 30 times in WhatsApp alone, it rang but he didn't pick up. Then I tried to contact mycrashcourse no one picked the call, I was calling them for 2 hrs. It was ringing at first and later after 1.30 mins they disconnected the telephone number, all I could hear is contant beeping when called. They took town their website as well. Everything was fine at the starting, no doubts at all. Turned out they are scammers. I just didn't loose my money, but my licence as well. Which was really important for me because I need it for my new job. These people ruined my future.

WHAT THE HELL....(GUTTED)
Booked a crash course for my son, middle of September 2026 for 20 hrs, theory test & practical test. Was supposed to have his first lesson yesterday, got a message from instructor Tuesday saying his car had been in an accident & was waiting for a replacement vehicle, so rearranged for today. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. Tried messaging & phoning. NO REPLY. Phoned the company office which just constantly gives the engaged tone. THE WEBSITE HAS GONE OFFLINE ASWELL.... MY SON IS ABSOLUTELY GUTTED.

I'm hoping they are just having problems with the web site the phone is constantly engaged. My daughter has book 10 hours plus test for £550 just over a week ago and nobody has contacted her and she can't contact them. How does she get her money back from this ?

I booked a 10 hour crash course with driving lesson 9 days ago, recieved an email to wait 7 days for someone to get in touch, been trying to get in touch with them for 2 days no one has gotten in touch, the line is now dead by the sounds of it and the website has now gone , seems like a scam

This is a scam.

I paid on 06/10/2026 got a confirmation that I would be contacted in 7 working days.

I contacted them on 09/10/2026 as the exam date was in less than 5 weeks so I needed to start the course asap.

I was told to wait.

It is now 15/10/2026. I tried calling the phone number on the confirmation email this morning it rang with no response and now it is disconnected. The website is also disconnected.

They took £535 from my credit card. Their payment says Coventry but their address is in Macclesfield in leased offices. I am now raising a criminal investigation with my bank as well as the councils involved. STAY FAR AWAY

SCAM! I paid £1,295 two weeks ago for a 30-hour intensive driving course after speaking to someone called Alex a few times. They seemed genuine and reassuring, so I had no reason to suspect anything.
Now that my first lesson is meant to start, their phone number, website and email have all disappeared then my “driving instructor” sally has blocked me.

I’m 19, living away from my family, and was hoping to get my licence before travelling to Australia at the end of November to visit my family. Instead I’m left with no lessons, no money and no way to contact them. I feel completely furious and devastated that I was taken advantage of.
Please avoid this company at all costs!!!!!

Bought a 910 pound 20 hour driving course 8 days ago and received an email saying I would hear back from them in 7 days. This obviously didn’t happen and now the website is down and I cannot reach them via their phone number. My guess is it’s an exit scam as I’ve heard the company went bust recently.

Now their website is down and phone is not reachable. I spent 1300. I don’t know how to get that money back at all. Is there anyway we can recover the amount or it’s a waste now? in case anyone wants to discuss more in handling this let me know

Very concerned – £910 paid, no instructor and unable to contact company

My son booked and paid £910 in full for a 20-hour intensive driving course with My Crash Course on 8 October 2026.

We received confirmation showing a practical driving test booked for 4 November at 9:15 am in Ipswich. We were also told that an instructor would contact him within seven days.

That deadline has now passed, and we have heard absolutely nothing.

We have tried repeatedly to telephone the company, but the number is constantly engaged. The website is also not loading.

Even more concerning, my son has not received any official DVSA test confirmation, and when he checked with DVSA, he could not find a booking.

My son was incredibly excited about his driving course, and this situation has caused him considerable worry and distress.

We have now emailed the company requesting urgent clarification.

We are extremely concerned and would appreciate someone from My Crash Course contacting us immediately to confirm his instructor, course dates and driving test booking, or arrange a full refund if they cannot provide the service.

I will happily update this review if the company resolves the situation.

i had booked a 30 hour intermediate course with them everything seemed good price was fair all of that had contact with an “instructor” when it came to the date of my first lesson HE NEVER SHOWED UP he then messages me saying he put me on for the wrong date and it was the next day and again NEVER SHOWS UP, NUMBER BLOCKED, WEBSITE NUMBER BLOCKED

THIS IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM PLEASE DONT WAIST YOUR TIME BOOKING ANYTHING

Reply: internet trolling? How old are you. If you are honest you’d have stuck with your original response. But you are triggered by an honest review of a dishonest service.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your website states in the FAQ section these tests are pre booked, some for over a year. This is illegal and you know that. You have a workaround that may be legal in terms of getting me to book my own test but the DVSA do not ask for a selfie as you do and that indicates the process is NOT fully compliant as the learner must be the one to interact with the DVSA. Also, hoarding a test from those who are searching daily for tests is also illegal. So it is all illegal for you to somehow manage to reserve it and allow me to complete the link. Can you explain how you “legally” do this and the DVSA advise you are compliant, I will book with you no problem. But the DVSA also advise any tests booked or reserved via third part actions will be cancelled. Prove me wrong and I’ll even delete this but I am a potential customer that went to book but realised what you said was wrong. Checked and now concerned.

Called to book today and sounded too good to be true. Called DVSA and explained the test allocation process to see if this was genuine and they confirmed this practice is illegal as they are holding onto test slots the public should also be able to access.

Did a 30 intermediate course as I had driven before easy website to use. Chose hours, chose test date in Gloucester.

Instructor recommended 2 hours lessons

I called up and spoke to helpful northern gentleman called Alex. He advised what would be best for my Son Sanj. Booked online, paid by card, received confirmation straight away.

He’s currently on his last few lessons and test is on Friday!!
